Robert Browne comes from a family of law enforcement officers. He's also from my hometown. He killed a young lady here and they can verify his story through our sheriff's department. She used to date and live with him. I knew her and her family. I used to see him town when I go out on weekends and he always gave me the creeps. But it's so sad that he turned out like he did. Because he was the only rotten apple in his whole family. If I'm not mistaken he had been killing women and young girls for about 30 years when they caught him. I'm so glad that they had gotten him off the streets because he wouldn't have ever stopped killing.

Such a sweet child. So glad the family has her on film which preserves her memory and her voice. I would recommend all families (with children or not) to make home movies which is now easier with phone cameras so their memory is not lost forever. @@craigime Because he lived within sight of their house and he entered through the daughter's window. He knew the mother had left. It's unusual for a "burglar" to take a victim out of the residence. Yeah, give him credit for knowing exactly what he was going to do. I doubt if he's a burglar who turned pedophile upon entering the house. He took her from her bed. A burglar normally tries to steal without disturbing sleeping people. So many reasons that it wasn't a "burglary gone bad" at least according the details the show reported.

Perhaps if police officers would respond to missing children as if it were their own child missing, crime scenes wouldn't be contaminated by relatives who obviously care more for the welfare of the child than the officers employed to protect and serve. Even if 98% of missing child cases are runaways or misunderstandings, are donut breaks and revenue-generating traffic tickets really so important to justify neglecting to investigate the 2% in a timely manner where minutes could make the difference between life and death? This is a clear cut example of why police should not be left to police themselves and determine which cases are deserving of their attention. It's not their resources or money paying them, it's the taxpayer's. Every missing child case should be given top priority, regardless of cost or manpower hours. If police adopted that mindset, perhaps most of that 2% would be found and thousands of children would not be abducted or murdered each year. Anyone who says that it simply isn't feasable doesn't understand the huge costs of doing investigations of cases that have gone cold because of police procrastination and crime scene contamination. Also, what in the hell is a reporter doing handling evidence? Showing the skull on television? How insensitive and irresponsible are the television stations in Colorado Springs?

so - 48 murders, and the state can see no reason to execute him, and leave the taxpayer for his upkeep for the rest of his life. As sad as the case is, no parent should ever leave a 13 year old at home without an adult - day or night.

Sometimes life isn’t that simple. My mom was a single mom and there were times my brother and I didn’t want to go shopping with her once we got that age because she took *forever* But my grandparents did live right across the street and we had their phone number memorized so it was quite safe. One time we actually locked ourselves in the bathroom and called our gun-owing grandpa in whispered panic because a strange car was pulling into our driveway. He ran over with his rifle to find out it was our uncle who was supposed to be coming over. He had just gotten a new truck, lol. Terrifying at the time, but it was good to know that we could react correctly in that situation.

some are 17 or 18 when they gone missing. Just because the place is safe do not mean we can put our guard down, I know since I come from a safe neighbourhood people here do not lock the doors. But since I watched too much forensic files, I know we should never take things for granted. So I emphasied always lock the doors to my children

@planetruthplanet you'd think the cops would at least be aware that there was no central database. this could have been solved 2 years earlier if they were informed about their own profession.

If he killed that poor little girl in her home, why didn't they find ANY evidence of that? He beat her over the head so hard it killed her, but left no blood? Blood splatter or pools? No way. Idk if anyone else has ever seen a head injury, but they bleed ALOT. They also make a point to say he was a serial killer, but his reason for being at the house was burglary? If you ask me it sounds like they had absolutely no idea what transpired that night. All they knew was they were his prints on the screen and theu just kind of freeballed the rest. I mean, if they guy is guilty, he's guilty. But why the need to come up with a whole host of details that there is no evidence for? Why couldn't they just admit that all they knew was that he killed her and there were alot of details that remained unknow?

I don't see why he would've removed her body if she was killed at the house. Too much risk and makes far more sense to leave the body in situ. I think it's considerably more likely that he kidnapped her, took her to the mountains and murdered her there, especially given his plea to the kidnapping charge. If he had murdered her in the house his agreed facts would've been more along the lines of interfering with the body after the fact, destruction of evidence etc.

People say it’s maddening and senseless for police to interrogate and suspect relatives of missing victims but it makes sense to start with them. There were multiple cases on Forensic Files where parents had killed or attempted to kill their own flesh and blood.
