It’s not as easy as that. The extent of the manipulation this woman exhibited is so calculating and outrageous, he probably thought it wouldn’t happen. His faith was strong after all. Saying someone should’ve left isn’t fair. Like with women/men who are physically abused for example. The manipulation/narcissism is deeply ingrained. Sometimes the fear of leaving can be overwhelming. The percentage of those killed in domestic violence situations is higher during the time they decide/attempt to leave.

5:40 "since the death had been ruled accidental the bedding was not considered evidence" perhaps they were too quick to buy her story and didn't raise eyebrows. Thankfully forensics came in clutch with the laundered bedding. Watching newer crime shows I think accidental deaths are more scrutinized or at least the idea that it wasn't accidental is considered before releasing the scene. Personally I wouldn't launder the bedding...once everything is cleared by investigators, I'd disposed of them, plus the bed. Not sleeping on that!

Haven't watched the full episode, but that's false. My husband actually is a heavy sleeper. When he finally does jump out of his sleep (reason varies), he is on alert. I've watched him, while sitting up on my phone, get startled for our 7 year old going to the bathroom. Thinking it was an intruder. Same with our newborn crying. He has even forgot one time when his father was staying at our house over the holidays, and scanned the house WITH HIS GUN because the dogs were barking when his dad got up to go to the kitchen. So yeah, I moved all firearms from him when he goes to sleep. Too many horror stories.

@@iaincowell9747 It does happen from time to time, some people just forget because it's a routine, though I don't think anyone has done it while pointing at their chest, it's usually a leg, or into a wall, or on rare occasion earning themselves a living Darwin Award, though there's a fair chance those people were practicing their "quickdraw" while having the gun pressed on their appendix. There are a lot of different guns, and some of them as part of the disassembly process have you pull the trigger to release a mechanism to allow the slide to come off. I forget which ones but if you're ever thinking about buying them, I'd probably avoid those particular guns, just to remove that potential accident point.

Her 2018 review was, fittingly, on February 1, the 30th anniversary of Russ’s death. In September of 2017, The News & Observer, a Raleigh publication, exposed that Barbara had been granted privileges to leave the prison to go out to lunch with a prison-approved sponsor. The program, called Community Leave, attempts to integrate any prisoner eligible for parole back into society by taking them outside prison grounds. The sponsors are volunteers that have completed training, certification and a one-month probationary period. Barbara Stager killed her first husband for his life insurance, and killed her second husband Russell for the same reasons. She was an opportunistic black widow who married two men just for their money. But I have a problem with Russ:: if Russell felt that strong about Barbara wanting to kill him, why on earth did he stay with her??? Why didn’t he moved temporarily some place else to remove himself from the “problem”??? Or go to the police??? most likely he would be alive today. SMH. The same thing that Russell feared happened. I don’t know what was he thinking but he made a huge mistake who costed his life. Sad, very sad case of a good man’s death, tragic indeed.
