This scares me. I have had to move twice because of my stalker. He very recently contacted me via email. This is why I have 3 huge guard dogs and many guns. Hes not "doing enough" for it to be considered stalking since he only pops up every few months. But hes been stalking me for about 15 years now. And cases like these scare me tremendously

Buy a few tasers and have them charging and ready to use so that if you have to run to a room and can get one of them, you can protect yourself since your stalker would not expect it.

Those devices have someone at your house in a few minutes if you press the button and do not reply on the phone. That means even if the phone lines are cut, the person can simply push the button and have police at their house in a few or at least security. Stalkers sound very scary! At the least I would have legally issued restraining orders with maximum distancing against this lunatic. Living in fear with something like this is literally unreasonable and the stalker should be put in jail. Before he hurts or kills the intended victim.

_an interesting and sad note:_ Stalking was (unfortunately) not a crime at the time this happened. The very first state to pass a law against stalking was California, and that was in 1990. And it took many more years for these laws to be created in all 50 U.S. states.

Thank you for this detail of information. It's valuable to be aware of when seeing or reading about older cases where the activities of the perp may have been seriously uncomfortable yet still not directly threatening in objective words or actions as viewed individually per occasion. Like in this case, where he as a coworker stopping by started to do housholdchores while not asked to help. A detailed knowledge about the legislation gives somewhat an understanding to why something was not done when the acts went from polite kindness to turn creepy.

I would assume it's because it's so hard to prove the act of stalking. In this case, that wasn't 'stalking' however, it was pure harassment. I'm curious if she raised the concern to higher management at work, I'm curious why she didn't call the police when he showed up unannounced to do 'chores', as trespassing & home invasion is a crime.. and I certainly can't understand why, if she were so terrified, why the poor dear didn't change her locks when she considered it when her house keys disappeared. Things like stalking are such a difficulty in a free, civilized society... as you can't just go charge & arrest someone based on someone's word... Which is truly a wonderful thing.. or many, many innocent folks would be in prison because of spiteful people who would falsely accuse innocent people they wanted to create trouble for, but it's also a terrible thing in it's hard to protect someone from something you can't immediately show evidence of. Super hard situation.

@@Mandy-nt2cs I've seen that kind of passive approach fairly often when going trough the documentation that becomes public in Sweden when a prosecuter charges a suspect in court. I would guesstimate that these victims often becomes somewhat cognitive disabled due to physical reactions of the fear, anger and confusion. They might be enraged of having someone that invades their space to supply "help" that is not asked for, and even more so if they are aware of that complaining would have her seen as ungrateful for the kind gesture, because people around the stalked person does not see that whole picture. They don't realize it's not an act of altruism but a way of manipulating the victim into fear, submission etc. And an extended period of being angry and afraid can have as a concequence of not a fully functioning capacity for riskassessment etc, perhaps even PTSD.

I can imagine she didn't tell her boyfriend because she didn't want him to do something about it, but I wonder if that's why she was so insistent that he come over that night even though he was going to be late. Years ago, I started dating someone and her and I both started receiving very vulgar and threatening letters. We went to the police and they basically told us that there was nothing they could do until there was an actual assault, etc. And we were like "that's what we're trying to avoid." Thankfully nothing came of it, but the response from law enforcement was not very comforting.

I have to say, officers really need to do more for stalking victims. There’s not “nothing you can do”, you can go over to the stalkers house and AT MINIMUM let them know they’re on their radar!!! Give some kind of feeling of security to the victims!! They thought he kept doing chores on her property "to win her favor" but I disagree... He was just doing the chores as a front so that when she reported him to the police for being on her property, they would say that he wasn't doing anything wrong. And that is exactly what happened. SMH.

If he was truly on her property, she could have pressed trespassing charges. That's a glaring discrepancy and possibly a major issue if the police said they couldn't do anything. The only issue I can see is proving he was on her property, but surely there must have been witnesses besides her.

The cops, who were all men, actually SCOLDED Pam for repeatedly reporting Walsh's conduct - what the cops called "MINOR infractions" or "petty crimes" - and they even had the AUDACITY to tell her that Walsh "sounded like a pretty GOOD guy who REALLY liked her" and that she "should just give him a chance and go out with him". They NEVER even ran a background check on him, attempted to contact him nor anyone he knew. NOTHING, other than blame the VICTIM and try to force her to date him! That's when she stopped going to the police, even after her keys went missing, and tried seeking guidance and assistance from her Pastor.🙄🤦‍♀️🤬

The cops always say “there’s nothing we can do until he does something” but that’s not entirely true. They could have talked to him and warned him they were watching his behavior, and they could have helped her with a restraining order (at least for her house if they worked together). Her employer probably dropped the ball too if he was harassing her at work assuming she reported it of course. I guess this is why it’s important to report these guys at work for harassment before it escalates further.

Ladies if you ever get in a situation where a guy is obsessed with you, do a gross-out! When I worked with sex offenders it really worked. Ex. dig in your nose, butt, spit, burp, and fart out loud. Look messy and smell bad. Be rude, loud, classless. Eat a bunch of garlic and entertain their conversation by wanting to talk directly in their face. Make sure you do whatever it takes to make their sick fantasy of you go away. I still do this when I pull into a gas station and don't want to be bothered by some guys there. I get out of my car walking like I'm knot kneed, cocked-eyed, scratching my butt, while pretending to talk to my imaginary friend.

They scolded Pam for reporting him and tried SHAMING her into giving him a chance and dating him because he "sounded like a GOOD guy" who was trying very hard for her. A man broke into my home and came straight for me. I told him I was armed and didn’t believe me, until I loaded a round as loudly as possible at his head. He finally turned and ran, and I now have a Rottweiler too. The best part was two days later he broke into another woman’s home and was caught by her alerting the whole neighborhood and chasing him into a business. That a woman caught him was my favorite part!

This case was different from others having two men at the same house, two men calling 911 with different stories, and two men who knew the victim. A very unusual situation indeed, no wonder investigators believed them to be suspects. But the bad guy here was Patrick Walsh who harassed Pamela Sweeney at her job, will not take “no” for an answer, blood stains in his clothes, etc. Forensic science solved this case along with good detective work. Poor Pamela, called her boyfriend Larry to be with her and instead found death at the hands of a mentally, deranged, evil man, Patrick Walsh. The more I watch cases like this one, the more I am glad I am single. Glad that Patrick Walsh was caught and was found guilty of first degree murder and sent to life in prison. He was a ticking bomb ready to explode walking the streets, a very dangerous man who cannot hurt another woman again. Rest In Peace always, Pamela. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

What I think is that she already was being threatened by her coworker or had already been shot at least once when she asked her bf to please “come over”. I think it was staged by the coworker to make it look like the murderer was the boyfriend. He called 911 after the boyfriend did, as planned. The boyfriend was right. The murderer was still in site.

Pam must have been terrified of this stalker. Larry fleck loved pam very much. She was scared that something was going to happen to her. Thats why she wanted him to come over even though it was late. Great forensics which proved his guilt. He got the prison term he deserved. Condolences to her parents larry and her young son. How tragic that he doesnt have a mother. Patrick murdered pam in such a brutal way. Rest in peace pam.

My condolences to the family and friends of the murder victim. This boyfriend of the victim is a good man. A stalker killedvhet. Murder was pre planned. He stole her house keys at work. Two men who visited her that fateful night. Boyfriend who visited seemed more believable and more trustworthy.

Pamela should not have “ considered” changing the locks; she should HAVE CHANGED THE LOCKS RIGHT AWAY! That was her big mistake not doing it who costed her life. And Patrick Walsh was a monster, a true horrible man who left a young child without his Mom. Patrick must have been the type of man who couldn’t take “no” for an answer. As the detective said, “Patrick is a psychopath and the most dangerous kind” I agreed with him, this man was evil who didn’t not stop at anything as long as he got what he wanted. So sad and tragic for Pamela, her son and her family. Larry seems like a good man who lost her girlfriend to a demonic and vile man. Rest in Peace always Pamela 🙏💐

Pam was “considering in changing the locks” when her home keys “mysteriously disappeared?” Really? She should have done it immediately after finding out her keys were missing, and especially knowing the sexual harassment situation she had at work with a supervisor; Come on, it is common sense. 🙄 This is the typical example of the mistakes people do not acting right away because if Pam had changed the lock sooner, she would be alive today. SMH Very sad and tragic. And as far as the perpetrator is concerned, I hope he ruts in prison and has the same fate that Pam had! He deserves that and much more. “Life in prison” which is the most “preferred word today with judges” and the most common word they use, is NOT enough especially when it includes only 3 words: “life…in…prison” rather than LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE! This is the complete sentence that judges very conveniently forget to say. It makes me sick to my stomach how the criminal justice system has failed miserably in the US and it truly sucks, it is a very disgraceful system who gives “passes” to criminals and care more about them than caring to the victims and their families to bring justice to them. That man is no psychopath. I'm sick and tired of hearing the terms psychopath and temporarily insane, when people attempt to conceive of how someone could do this to another human being. For some reason, we have become afraid in this society, to simply call people WICKED, MEAN, EVIL, CRUEL, and SELF SERVING. The terms psychopath and temporarily insane are simply descriptions cooked up by defense lawyers, to convince jury's to either keep criminals out on the streets, or to lower their prison sentences, escape the death penalty, etc. We live in an increasingly evil world, where man seeks to serve himself, and himself alone. This creep simply became enraged because he wanted a woman who did not want him back, and he lacked the moral compass to actually let her live and move on. I can't imagine being so enraged, yet calculating, since he had planned this over the course of a week, that he was willing to risk his own freedom and livelihood, just to see this poor woman dead. Insane, NO. A jealous, self serving power freak, YES. Not much different from rape, in that the perpetrator isn't committing rape for sexual pleasure, but rather, the domination factor he has over the woman at that moment. Same here. He had the last act of dominance over her.

Police should have immediately offered her a protective order, and with the very first violation should have isolated him from society and thrown him in jail. She was asking for help repeatedly and police failed her and her son! EIGHT assault cases and active stalking and harassing and police did NOTHING.

The VICTIM has to be one the call to it in herself, and have the police come there, and escort him off the premises, and then warn him if he does it again he can/will be arrested. Pam did NOT ever call the police when he was on her property.
