Fun Fact! This is the episode mentioned in Season 14 Episode 5: A Squire's Riches Apparently, Arie Squire saw this episode and decided to try to fake his own death for the insurance money. Unfortunately for Arie, the detective working his case saw this episode as well.

This is exactly WHY I looked for this episode😂... I was just watching a show called Copycat Killers on KZbin channel True Crime Central...it's about Ari Squire...got about 5 or 6 minutes in and the narrator tells us that Ari got his idea from a Forensic Files episode... So I'm gonna watch this first and then go back to the Ari Squire story... 😁

I’m going to be straight up and say that for years basically all I do is watch this show. I listen to it on my phone when I go for walks, I keep it in my TV all night on HLN and I honestly haven’t seen all episodes yet. However I never mind watching the same episode again. My favorite show by far. It’s the realist of real shows. Straight up.

You can lie and lie through your teeth, but teeth do not lie. And Madison got caught. Oh well…..what he did was horrible. He scammed so many people including this lady who trusted him with her entire savings. Huge mistake she made. I wonder if she has ever recovered the $500,000 she entrusted to Madison. A very bad man, a crook, deceiving, who can’t be trusted.

I actually knew Bey Rutherford. He was one of my customers when i worked for the city. Rutherford moved down south and changed his name to Bey after being released from prison. He opened a pizza joint here in Five Points in Columbia and later a sports bar. He handled all the business details, but his father supposedly owned the businesses. His father was John Sankey. I used to wonder why their last names were different, until an article appeared in a local publication detailing his faked death.

The Mexican police finding evidence, outside, in the open, after a whole year, would indicate extreme incompetence or laziness, & luck, if it had truly been there for a year. As a Mexican cop, i would find the implication insulting. If they ever made a movie about this, they'd absolutely have to get Mel Gibson to play FBI Special Agent Joseph Mangan. They have the same smile & they're so much alike they could be brothers.

It was a pretty good plan ngl… but there’s an old saying, if you think you’ve planned the perfect crime/murder there’s at least 25 ways you could get caught. If you can figure out half of them you’re a genius, but no one will ever figure out the 25.
