Hello Jon Matty Gibb from Australia here - thanks for the shoutout mate, people call me "The Pad King" now and I'm running with that by using it as the name of my range of pads that I import in bulk these days including some custom modified foams with EVA or PE interfacing and custom edge profiles and thicknesses. I am communicating with the owners and admin people at ZviZZer all the time and Scholl. I really love the Thermo All Rounder pads out of their whole range. Addict Auto in France who I bought this box you show in this video I got from them for $24 euros and ben at addict auto still has some available as well as the new test it pad boxes in trapez style and the thermos that go from blue to green. My favourite of all three ranges of the thermo's from all rounder to the trapez and then the thermo detailing line are the white, blue and red foam and the all rounder red, orange and yellow. the thermo blue foam is very similar to the gekatech 50 ST 20 which is where the Lake Country SDO blue comes from just as the flash pad comes from gekatech also. Also KPA is kilopascal but I'm sure you knew that. PS the spider pad design you see on the gold foam from scholl i don't think is about cooling though it could help maybe. it's to increase surface area for slightly higher cut and to handle the paint/polish residue better. shredded foam or tufted foam pads would would increase the cut power of foam quite a bit due to a higher surface area. To me the spider pad is a great concept and I custom cut my own spiders out of other brand pads. I've had three guys test my customised versions of these gold foams with a PE foam interface layer and 15 mm thick gold foam layer and they are still working and looking like new. I don't know how people make pads look like your gold in this video, must be cranking it and using too much pressure. My foams last decades. Flexipads I have told to lift their game recently as your right they soften too quick especially the X Slim orange. have had communications with them in recent times and gekatex now owns them and they have a new guy working on their pad lines for flexipads so expect some new stuff eventually. I told them they need to bring out stuff to rival the latest pad tech as the company is being left behind technology wise. I only like their ivory and black x slim and r buff line pads out of their whole range now. As far as manufacturers go, yes dunlop are one, carpenter foams are the biggest company in foam now globally, they purchased the engineered foam line from recticel in belgium which was "FOAM PARTNER" out of switzerland originally who recticel purchased a few years ago. Have tried to buy from carpenters but they wont do the conversion from slabstock and sheets to velcro pads. Other companies I wish I could tell you but then I'd be revealing my four german factories I am buying from and the english and other european factories I deal with also. As far as foam cells or pores go - having the foam with very small cells enables them to finish better but yes clogging can occur if using too much product or the compound or polish is very thick and dry. but a pad washer or regular cleaning with air and a liquid is best. The best option I find with thick paste compounds is to either add one or two drops of nanolex optimizer to the pad prior to polishing or add 10-20 ml of it to a 250ml bottle of compound which will change the product from a thick wettish paste like old farecla to more of a semi runny or semi thick cream like viscosity. Did this with 3D 510 the other day as it's viscosity was like a thick but slightly wet paste which looked like the water and the oils had separated but now it's a lovely cream so I showed that to 3D a day later. sorry for the super long comment but you know how much I am passionate about pads, I am obsessed and hungry to introduce something that no one has done yet and needs to be done. All the best buddy

The selling point of these pads is that they stay consistent throughout your polishing cycle because they will not soften up as much as regular foam pads. You can test this quite easily by placing a weight on both pads and see how much they shrink before and after usage.
@amounifnd9 ай бұрын
They have a black wool pad which looks the goods. Hope you review their compounds and polishes one day. Shinemate are a decent Chinese brand, especially their fibre types with a great one step micro fibre pad. Hard to beat Scholl for most things.

Been using these a while, well impressed with them. A bit harder than most to clean out I find but not much of an issue really. It's a shame the 1" pads tend to be so expensive relative to the rest. Have you tried out any of the labocosmetica polish range? I've just tried out audace and fiero recently. The finish from audace is amazing for a heavy cut.

Just found somewhere that still has the six pack of pads for well under £40, bought a couple of boxes. Interesting comments re pad life, I've always managed to get pads to last pretty well by keeping them clean and not letting them clog or get too hot.
@SuperchargedLlama9 ай бұрын
Same. I have the Lake Country pad washer and this has the double denefit of cooling the pad down as you clean it out as well, although I will swap over from one set to another, but I'll just use two pads (well, 2 5" ones anyway) for a whole car by taking that approach. They really do last.

Bought the set of Zvizzer and I like it. Uses red to apply poorboys Black hole Uses gray to use the mertzerne heavy duty. 2steps up to medium duty. Blue for finish cut and the black to wipe the Fusso coat off. I tried my boss',s foam pads (can't remember the brand) and compared i could feel the pad being colder on the Zvizzer and the cut was still better. And the conditions aftwr one polish was alot better

Great content again Jon....i follow everything you say because you do a great consumer test... however, koch was going to be my choice (H8 or H9 with red pads etc) are these viable ? ... i know you appeal to the masses but ive followed you since the begining so can you cut to the chase and be single minded with a recommendation for us guys that totally trust you and then i can just go buy them from Imran !
@ForensicDetailing9 ай бұрын
they are totally viable mate. everything koch do is top drawer.

Lake country pads are lucky to get two cars out of a 125 and 70 mm pad , think it’s time I changed my pads
@flowinthrouАй бұрын
I bought the box of 125mm thermopads, but I cannot sort out if there is 6 pack or 5 pack. The range is 6 pads, but on site it says 5 pieces... I guess I`ll wait until they come
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
yer I think you might have bought the Trapez set. not sure what the difference is to be fair. zwizzer do not have a good UK website which breaksdown their range.
@ForensicDetailingАй бұрын
yer so I think the pads I show in this video are no longer for sale and the trapez pads now have the thermo technology. so thats good for you but I might as well bin mine because I wont be able to get more whatever they ar.
@flowinthrouАй бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing Yes, they change the product and give the old ones in big discount. I just got them and they are 5 and they are actually smaller than usual, I don`t know why. I think they are very hard, too. The 2 hardest are really stiff, the medium is harder than the usual medium orange from other brands.

How do these compare to Lake Country HDO Pro pack pads Jon?

its 25 quid for 500ml. Bilt Hamber is 18.99 for 1000ml. TW 14.99 for 1400ml. Autoglym 25 quid for 1000ml. Its gonna have to be really good at that price point...
@Hiteshdattani19909 ай бұрын
@@ForensicDetailing I know seems rather expensive, and curious if it's any good compared to the others. TW I assume turtle wax which product is this? Bilt hamber touch on is 15.79 for 1000ml.
@ForensicDetailing9 ай бұрын
TW is turtle wax yer they have ceramic wash and wax. I dont know if its better mate. finding if its better takes time and benchmarking. like I could test cleaning power on these ceramic foams and compare. I can test concentrations and cost per wash. We can test the hydrophocity of the material left behind. all takes lots of time usually theres small difference in performance. price is always important mate and any USP's too.
