A clear attempt to properly water our forest garden. And the no-stache boys ride again. To the auction place. Which is awesome.

I started to have a small garden, ended up with 200 tomato plants, 125 peppers, 8 rows okra, 7 rows squash… this happens when you have a little tractor and build a little greenhouse and start growing plants from seeds. 🥴I sold some plants, gave some away, I’ll do the same thing with veggies. That’s what you do when you get old. It’s not about you, it’s about others.

make sure that you water those pots a couple of times a day when it gets hot because they dry out real fast and you have a couple of small half inch drain holes so the roots do not rot. also thin out your corn to 6 inch apart, just pull them out and replant them while they are small

Hey Russell we used to own a garden nursery , and we just watered the pots by hand , hold the hose over each pot , fill it up to the top then move to the next one , by the time you have the last one done , go back to the first one and do it again , they should then be well watered and for your 20 pots should only take about 15-20 min.

Yes, build a stand and pump water into a large tote, run pump almost continuously by solar filling the tank , then water with the tank. Put tank above garden so gravity force will take water to end of hose.

this irrigation suggestion works in my head. get a barrel, elevate it yeh high, pump water into barrel, and then drip-hose the garden-pots from the barrel. like i said, it works in my head. this is another suggestion from my head. get a bunch of corrugated pipes, 4-5 feet diameter, cut them yeh high, stand them up in the mud-holes, fill them with stones/gravel, build a bridge on top. it works in my head.

Soaker hoses need more pressure, especially the type you are using. I used those one year, they were no good the next year. Use a drip irrigation system. You can place an individual sprinkler in each pot, requires less pressure, and uses less water.

Logs across road meaning tree trunks that go from from side to the other, and then if desired gravel on top DD5 from Arkansas did this to their area of water and deep mud in their driveway and works beautifully, years ago they made a plank road, basically same idea still exists today here in southwestern Ontario near sarnia

Hey Russell, just advice from this member of Ontario Nature, please refrain from touching any wild birds in a nest...or baby deer, baby rabbits etc. You can hear the mother Robin in the background giving the low alarm to the babies. All bird nests are built to size. Those birds all look ready to fledge (leave the nest). Human intervention is not required and usually detrimental. Otherwise, great video. Gidday Ray, what a cool auction house. And no, i never get sick of gardening content. Have you and city girl ever thought of starting a hugelkultur garden bed, may be worth considering. Ive mentioned in the past i have a black female lab (Marley) so many similarities to your Junebug. Anyway for years i went through the same deal, ear infections, my golden lab never had the problem. In desperation one day when i couldn't get into the vets i made up a 50-50 mix of filtered water and organic apple cider vinegar with the mother. Although not recommended by the vet, i gave a quick spray in each ear, did this a few times a the problem was resolved. No ear/yeast infections now for 4 or 5 years. Next time you see your vet ask the question? I'd be interested in the response. Great video as usual. Cheers

Subway buys them frozen then defrosts them and then bake. They either have a bakery that makes them and sells to each franchise. Or they subcontract them from a different company.

Wrong kind of irrigation hose for pots. The correct type is a plastic hose that you pierce at each pot or better you attach a drip T-connector to the hose at each location. Efficient. No leak.

Russel that hose is likely to kink when you turn off and on. Also will emit inconsistently. Been there done that. Small tubing with holes is the way to go. You're original idea of coiling the tubing in the pot is the way and small tubing will allow for that. That hose is going to be trash in no time. Sorry.

You're not wrong, Michael. But it's working for now. I never expected those hoses to last longer than a season, mainly because of the crappy water going into them. They'll foul up pretty quick.

This is probably far fetched & would probably take a couple of years but Coukd you have stone delivered where you park and you use your trailer to haul it to the watered path doing load after load Just a thought

Corduroy road: Maybe start with green saplings 4" in diameter and 12 feet long or more -- stuff you can move. You got plenty of trees like that close to your trail you can drag/haul. Keep piling up the pieces. Maybe use a corduroy road to PREVENT a trail bog next time in susceptible areas on your trail. Can't ya hire a young fellar' to he'p ya out?
