A sad horrible time in their history. The Japanese had occupied Korea and they tortured and killed the last empress. Somewhere at some time I have seen the lyrics in English and it seems to be the musings of a soldier just before dawn. I remember the line when I'm gone please tell them that even my misery was joy... What a beautiful song this is and I'm crying so hard right now. As always thank you so much for bringing this

Hello, thanks for reaction. This song is actually popular and other singers covered before. So someone actually translated lyrics into English. I am a little lazy to do it myself .. This song is an OST when Japan invaded the Korean palace during the Joseon Dynasty, killed the queen, and burned it freely. Cho Soo-mi sang it, but if you look it up, there is also a video that Cho Soo-mi sang in the drama music video. I don't know the language, but I think what this song means was conveyed. hello gio. thanks for the reaction. i've seen the title of this song translated as "if i leave." i haven't ever seen english lyrics for this, but i've read it in multiple places that this is indeed a folk song that tells the story of the assassination of the last empress of korea. so forestella really hit the emotions of the song perfectly in their performance!

The lyrics of this song describe the deep sadness of Korean history so well that many Koreans cry when they listen to this song. The name of the last queen of Joseon, the main character of this song, is Empress Myeongseong. She was an intelligent queen who served Joseon. She became an obstacle to Japan's attempt to invade Joseon, and because of that, Japan mercilessly raped and tortured her to death on October 8, 1895. Not only that, The Japanese soldiers moved the body of the queen of a country to a nearby forest, placed it on a pyre and burned it, and even lied that Empress Myeongseong was killed by her own people of Joseon. A music video was produced for this song, and I remember crying several times while watching this music video when I was young.
