Elliot, I felt for ya in this case. It really makes me hate new equipment with all the ECM sensors, parameters, DPF/DEF systems, electronic common rail fuel injection, Safety Sally sensors. Ugh! Looking forward to knowing why this happened and what other might learn about their tractors, Kubota or not. Thx Give me an Oliver 99 with a Detroit Diesel all day long!!

That MP360 is too much for the L4701. We've got the MP348 on the L3901 and it stalls it out all the time....same code, etc. We might get a L4701 to run the MP348 or at tractor with at least 40 PTO HP. Not sure what you try when it stalls, but disengage the PTO lever, pump the left pedal/clutch a few times. And lower the 3pt Hitch all the way before trying to restart takes all the stress off the engine. Restarts easier.

The pto rating is well within the mulcher head rating...something obviously went wrong...shame on me for not stopping after the first time it stalled. Also the 3901 is the last model to have a PTO clutch pedal. My tractor has an electronic PTO engagement so you step by step wouldnt work for me.

Your wife did a great job helping and it's great you two work together. I dislike the fact dealerships are putting stuff like on equipment, it's all about the money though. Which most people don't have much of for service calls and such. Hope it works out for you. All in all a great video.

luckily, I got this tractor at auction for a great deal and it hasn't given me any trouble yet. I'm not excited about spending the money, but with owning any piece of equipment, there is always unexpected set backs.

I am looking at a fully mechanical tractor right now. Minimal electronics & none with the engine and no DPF either. Kubota still have the L3800 available here. Tractors are meant to be simple and tough machines. They are far too complex now. Cheers from Australia.

Dang! It doesn't make sense that the tractor keeps shutting down so easily everytime you start mulching a tree. Adjust your slip clutch on the mulcher. Hate that your equipment went down on you, these things happen.

The slip clutch was adjusted a month ago. The mulcher sits outside, but I have a hard time believing that the slip clutch froze together in a month.

Wow thats an expensive piece of equipment! My first concern is can you tow a hydrostatic tractor. I have a hydrostatic lawn tractor that had a lever that you have to pull to disengage the transmission. Theres a warning about damaging the trans if towed without pulling that lever.

I'm tempted to sell my L3302 and tune a 2501/2 up to >30HP just so I can have a more mechanically-driven tractor with no BS emissions "store it then burn it off later" crap. Also my son (now 4) helps me work on my tractor too. Just be careful when you have him hold a wrench; it may turn into a hammer in his hands.

did you have a clutch plate or a sheer pin? Stalling your engine out could lead to a bent rod or something worse. It would be very rare, but always possible.

Is your slip clutch adjusted right? Is the tractor charging the battery? I would ask exactly why the ECU locks out in this type of situation as well to avoid it happening again. Good luck

The slip clutch was adjusted a month ago, I can’t believe it woulda froze up in that time. I asked the dealer if this was a common problem, and they said no. Turns out my tractor doesn’t fall under the tech bulletin for the issue.

I see on all of the YT channels, apparently the forestry mulchers are the "flavor of the week". Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one, but from what I've seen, they're pretty violent on a tractor. Especially on the smaller ones. I've got a 73HP machine, and I don't know that I'd shell out the cash for one and beat the heck out of my tractor with it. To me, not all implements are right for a tractor, even if the manufacturers of the implements say that they are.

That mulcher seems like way too much for that tractor or that tractor was down on power. Seems like none of those trees should have stalled a 40+hp tractor. I have taken those sized trees with a 25hp and 5ft bush hog with relative ease. Its hard to beat a good bush hog. And im not talking about the new china farm store garbage. Im talking about the older ones that came with 100hp gear boxes on 4 and 5ft cutters.

The, uh..... "joys" of recovering equipment in the woods. I've been there myself a couple times. The way i was able to get my tractor out one time was to jump it straight from the starter. Not sure if that would've helped here though

Find someone to watch your son. There are so many dangers around tractors. About 25 years ago i was giving my son a ride and upon exiting he reached out and grabbed the hot exhaust pipe. I felt so bad. For the next six months he kept pointing out all the hit places on tractors, trucks and cars.

I work on heavy equipment. And i own the same tractor. I dont think that mulcher had anything to do with what happend to your tractor. I think the battery got low and or the alternator went bad and let the power got low and probably fried the ecm. Happens all the time in equipment. We send em out to be fixed. Edit. I do wished they'd left the clutch pedal for the pto on the hst models like the earlier models.

Your clutch on the mulcher wasn't adjusted correctly. It shouldn't stall the tractor, it should slip the clutch on the implement shaft. Hopefully it didn't do too much damage to the tractor and just fried a fuse or something easy like that.

What's weird is I used the mulcher a couple weeks ago and checked the clutch, it was adjusted correctly and was slipping. I didn't think it would have seized up in a couple weeks of no use. Shame on me for not stopping after the first time it stalled.

If that mulcher is killing your tractor at speed it appears that the mulcher clutch plate or shear pin if it has one isn’t doing its job. Connected directly to your PTO the clutch plate should give out and slip before it kills your engine which can and probably did damage something in the tractor. Hopefully not. I would try to figure out if the clutch plate on the mulcher is too tight or glazed and what amount of force the slip is set to.

i watched and the two small trees wrapped up into the mulcher locking it. disengage mulcher pto, dont try lifting pto while starting (watched mulcher lift when turning over) put tractor in neutral then try to recover. and stop saying super to everything... lol

@@EverythingElliott I just finished this video. I could only watch up to the point of just before you getting the ATV. This morning while making my coffee, I started it up again. When the smaller tractor with the ATV couldn't pull it out, my heart sunk. First thing that popped into my mind was Oh No! something is seized. I was relieved when the larger John deer pulled it out and the wheels would spin. Hoping it is just a computer issue and nothing serious. Great video!
