Always liked forestry stuff and already have been doing backyard expansions for neighbors and whatnot over the years. I do it by hand (chainsaw, recip saw, hands, etc) so it can take a while compared to what a skid steer could do in mere minutes. Also have converted raw forest sections into more park-like look for a couple people. In the Atlanta area. Guess I need to keep an eye peeled. PS- love the attention to detail you guys do. Keep it up.

Just a thought, I think a lot of people who get into this line of work or are curious about it tend to be DIY/mechanically inclined type. And i think you mentioned the down time that occurs when you take it to a service bay for maintenance. And if there is a down day from work it seems fun to be able to perform maintenance if you have the tools and know how. That ASV RT seems to be a solid unit!! It would be awesome to see the Engine and how it couples to the Hydraulic Pump to run drive motors and mulching head etc.. Stay safe out there my friend, Thanks for reply

Working with that mini looks like it is a real helping hand to the whole operation and it has me thinking. Would it work better or easier if you had a grapple on the end instead of a bucket, or even one of the tilt/rotator systems like the Engcon setup which has a grapple on it and you can still use your bucket? You would have to have a thumb on the bucket pin type of bucket due to length change and the whole rotate aspect. I wonder if you could rent one for a few days or if buying it is the only way to find out? Anyhow, looks great and thanks for the videos.
@UpstateBrushControl

I have used a rotator grapple in the past, I like to keep things simple so anyone can jump on the excavator that I have so it's not a big learning curve for them. Thanks for the input.

Your logic of grinding big stuff at the gear-side of the blade makes perfect sense. That's where you would have most torque.

When it gets dry very dry usually you can get the local Fire Dept to come and hose down the general area your working on and that will keep the dust and debris down and flying everywhere and you will not be breathing in so much dust and natures toxics such has poison oak..also have you tried out the FAE DML Mulcher what are your thoughts

How does this work. I would like to buy some land someday 5-100 acres If I buy land that is heavily wooded but need some pastures The trees are not at there peak for harvesting do you get any money out of the trees to offset the clearing cost. Would I pay more for the clearing of the land than the land itself. All land is different could you tell me a range of clearing cost per acre in say your area of North Carolina. Or if you would tell me if you need to clear any land more than a Homesite don't buy it.
@cathiwim
@cathiwim 5 жыл бұрын
K Wayne im not Upstate but i can-partially answer your question. Determine what your land will be used for. Logging? Homestead with animals? Vineyards? Market gardens? All sorts of possibilities. Theres a book called 5 acres and Independence, and it tells what to look for, how to buy and how to plan your homestead. Great info. There are other books out there as well.

You're better off to use the left side of your cutterhead due to your bearing and belt tension from hydraulic pump and cutting at the same time put more pressure on that one bearing on the other side of the cutter head has less stress

Here is a Idea Not a Suggestion or Comment Because I would like to see someone try it out and see a real world review Get a Wyze Cam ($25) and a cheap Cellular Power pak (Less than $25)so it runs even when power is interrupted and place in or on your pole barn (Once set up will continue to record to the Micro SD even with no Internet Connection) Use the 1080p video on your channel Is it any good. There are other Wyze products very inexpensive but not cheaply made. (WYZE Sense,WYZE Bulb) Please look it up on internet.
