This is my favorite animation of Dream. I don’t think anything’s encapsulated just how much what he’s experienced would *burn,* and I hadn’t even fully realized it until watching this (or at least I feel like I have a better understanding now).

I love this version of Dream, your art always captures how tragic his story is. The dynamic he has with Ink and Blue in this is especially heartbreaking: he clearly wants to be a better friend for them, but can't bring himself to let go of his unhealthy coping mechanisms. Neither of them want to let him go, but they realise there isn't much they can do for Dream when he refuses help and stubbornly continues to push others away. In the same way Dream has given up on himself, he cannot bear to give up on trying to save everyone else from the fate he suffered. So he is just stuck in a twisted cycle of isolation and self loathing, desperately trying to regain what was lost as the hope he has is crushed again and again. This was my thoughts on it anyway, awesome art as always! 👍

My au Dream relates to this, he took up a smoking, drinking, and drug addiction all soon after Nightmare became corrupted, so bad that sometimes Nightmare would come up behind him finding Dream passed out drunk bucase he was making enough negative energy for Nightmare to come through. But instead of attacking him he decided to let him be, Nightmare knew what he was doing was hurting Dream, and at first he relished in Dreams pain. Then he saw the emotional and physical toll it took on Dream and he decided that his brother needed help. Though he never got him any. And his form of helping was kidnapping him and sort of “hanging out” with him. He never realized how much it helped Dream.

oh my gawd... i would literally love to hear ur ideas about dream this is so wonderful. fanon often portrays him as the perfectly untraumatized goodie two shoes dream or the evil toxic bad brother (where on earth did this portrayal come from...) dream and it's so refreshing to see a take on him that isn't so black and white!! he's doing the best he can but he doesn't know how to navigate the world anymore after 500 years of missing out... i feel like you captured the insanities of his life so well and i'm really glad to have found this video. fantastic work!! great job!

@@pingutune it's related to nightmare, yes :3 i didn't emphasize it because it's meant to be subtle but this is centric around dream's values being so black and white that even his comrades find disappointment in him it's a whole thing i got going on in my head but that's the gist of it!
