Who would win? The Wehrmacht, or the Galactic Empire's stormtroopers? It would be a very long fight, since neither can shoot. I guess they would run out of bullets eventually, then it would be finished by a big fist fight (the germans had some melee weapons, while the stormtroopers have armor, but considering that even stone axes can penetrate it, I think that doesn't really matter). But the stormtroopers are still americans, and the germans suck in melee fights against americans (as everybody else does, at least in movies).
@foreverblueclassics6 жыл бұрын
All well and true. Except there are no Americans in this movie. They are French Colonial troops from Algeria and Morocco :-)
@nialencapefet51546 жыл бұрын
Yes, in this case, they are not americans, the protagonists can be switched to polish rebels, russian soldiers, communist partizans, or to anything you like. It just sucks how every movie portrays the german army as a group of very well equipped, very well dressed, but totally incompetent bunch of idiots. Not because I have any love for the Third Reich, just because it's so unrealistic. I can't imagine that any group of soldiers (or any group of humans if at least one has a brain) would march into an abandoned, destroyed town in the middle of a warzone without sending scouts, moving to cover, or at the very least not standing together for an even easier shot for snipers. They weren't even checking the buildings, the most obvious hiding place for the enemy. It's just make all these movies stupid. Movie makers really suck when they have to create minion-level enemies. In melee combat, they basically can't block, their swings open up almost everything on them, their armor is made from paper, and if they have a shield, they won't raise it up. In modern combat, they just run forward to be shot, when they shoot, they never hit anything, and they basically have less strategy than a group of kids with water guns. And if they are in melee combat, they die/faze from the first punch/kick. And if they want to paint a picture about a small group of heroes fending off an army, they shouldn't create an army as dangerous as a group of blind chickens.
@lesvosla25936 жыл бұрын
If you want an entertaining WW2 movie and you don't cheer for the Axis, you do such things. God forbid you otherwise might get the impression that the enemy isn't evil incarnate. In reality, if four generic Algerian soldiers were about to stop 30+ Wehrmacht troopers, the movie would have been over in about 5 minutes with at least 3,5 minutes of hide and seek, one minute of leaded ballet and 30 seconds of dying and suffering. Doesn't make for a good movie, I guess.

Wehrmacht units, unlike the Red Army, were built around machine guns. German MP 40 submachine guns, which Soviet soldiers nicknamed “Schmeiser", were available prefer to non-commissioned officers. Until the very end of the war. And the Soviet troops, having quickly experienced the advantages of submachine guns, began to arm entire units with them. Companies of submachine gunners were created, which performed the functions of assault units. But even at the end of the war, on the second "western" front, German troops quite successfully resisted the British, Americans and French. For Its was not the hell of the eastern "Russian" front, where the Russians fought to the death for the fourth year and were hard, experienced fighters who by that time had already ground the best Wehrmacht units. It was a soo light version of the war for the Germans with actions against the untrained infantry of the Allies. An analogue of the "light mode" in games, after the "nightmare". For the Allies, it was blood training. In reality, it would be like this. When approaching a populated area, points for two German machine guns are selected. With the overlap of the fire sectors. The head patrol (reconnaissance group) move at the settlement in the number of four people, two pairs each. The most experienced. They scan the future path of the group for the presence of mines, traps, ambushes. They are covered by the heavy weapons of the detachment (machine guns, mortars, snipers) and small arms of the rest of the squad. Commander, grenade launcher, signalman, medics in the main group. They never come forward. No one moves in a crowd in an open space (as shown in 1:36). When an enemy is detected or during fire contact, it is suppressed by machine guns, mortars, snipers. The reconnaissance group is on the defensive or withdrawing. When the enemy's location is localized, assault groups armed with MP40 and bags of grenades are moving out under the cover of machine guns. Buildings are cleaned one by one by assault groups using grenades in all rooms at least minimum two grenades at room (that's why the stormtroopers carried grenades in sacks) At 5:29, a fantastic moment is shown when the machine gun cannot penetrate the wall. However, the MG-42 confidently punched through brick walls. German infantry, American infantry, Russian infantry never acted independently. Always only in cooperation with mortars, artillery, tanks, ingineers/sappers. Combined arms combat is not "peww-peww" a 10-on-10 or 100-on-100, it is a whole range of events. Aerial reconnaissance, terrain reconnaissance, artillery work, mine clearance, assault and mopping up of the territory In general, this video is a beautiful fairy tale about winning Europeans for losing Germans, showing "how I wanted it to happen", and not "how it would actually happen".

for those who are asking why the guy with the p38 has suddenly super aiming capacity it's just beacause the actor who's plaing him (he's call Jamel Debouze btw) has a train accident during his childhood and lost one of his arms so during all this movie they managed to not make him not do anything that need both arms exept for this part where a p38 thet we never saw before seems to have teleported hitself on his belt for the final fight so he can shot it instead of the springfield 1903 that he was sling-carrying since the beggining of the movie. btw this movie show very well how poorly equiped the french army was at the time:none of them has a standard issue rifle: the corrporal has a MAS 36 the marksman has a scoped kar 98 and the guy with british helmet has a tommy gun.

If you think that the scenes in this movie where too many Germans were being killed are unreal , Go and watch a film called "Where Eagles Dare" in it , Clint Eastwood's character was responsible of killing 73 Germans by himself . I would say the count is to be somewhere between 87 and 100 kills . "Days of glory " did not exaggerate the battle scenes and deserves some respect .

The war was NOT just fought by the USA, Great Britain and USSR.... it's why it's called "World War 2"... Troops of many, many nations participated on the "allied" side... just because they spoke Arabic, French, Polish. Those people who are crying for some "justice" for Wehrmacht don't get a few things. 1) You have to watch the entire movie. In this video, they just started showing those poor Arabs dying. In fact, they were all wiped out, save for Abdelkader (the guy with the MAS-36 rifle who is getting numbering gestures from Messaud, the sniper with the scoped Kar98k). 2) The Nazis don't really know the enemy is in the town. Plus, there were just like five of them there including the wounded sarge. I mean, yes, it was kind of a pre-frontline place, but the recon didn't spot anyone, plus, they have just killed off an entire Allied platoon (those five guys were the only ones who survived only to be killed in this scene), plus, the command might have just made a mistake and left them without cover, because, well, the resistance was unexpected here. 3) The complete misplacement of troops we see was very realistically punished. Say, Messaud (the sniper, mind you) placed himself right in front of the enemy while he could have had better chances, had he taken position in the house. The Thompson guy (forgot his name) had the high ground and a good position, but all he could have done was to spray some bullets over Nazis' heads, it was up to Abdelkader, Said (the guy with a disabled arm), and Messaud to finish the job. The only guy with a cheat code here was Said: the actor himself had one hand disabled, so he isn't using any full-sized arms like others, but yet somehow he gets more kills than Messaud. And yet, he gets killed too (because Panzerschrek is a son of a bitch and an actual cheat-breaker, any wall-hack guy can confirm). So, please, stop saying that "gErMaNs aRe dUmB aGaIn!!111!!" bullshit and enjoy the movie. Wanna see some heroic Nazis wiping out the entire Allied batallions with their superior Nordic training? Go watch Finnish movies. P. S. Well, sorry, I haven't watch the whole scene published here. Well, as you see, they do get killed. So, yet again, stop whining.

@@foreverblueclassics I've just had enough of people rooting for Nazis. I mean, if you look at actually many of WWII themed videos comment section, there will always be a bunch of fools who would try to do some "justice" to "glorious" Wehrmacht. I personally come from the country that had it worst (save for China, but they were dealing with Japanese): the "shiny Teutonic knights" raped, burnt, pillaged and, most importantly, were responsible for my home city blockade which caused millions of hunger and KIA civilians' deaths. And there are still fool who think they were heroes and super-human beings. The Nuremberg trial wasn't indeed enough to finish such kind of people off.

I remember this movie. The mountain advancing scene is like something from Monte Cassino. In fact it could have been there. Haven't seen this in a very long time. World War Two was a somewhat complicated war. In Italy you had US Japanese citizens forces fighting German backed Kalmykian troops. The Brazilians even got involved in Italy. The New Zealander Bernard Freyberg pushed to Triest.
@RangaTurk5 жыл бұрын
Correction, I think the scene I was thinking of was in Tunisia with the Free French in the tail end of the Atlas Mountains, not Monte Cassino. The scene depicted here ties in perfectly with the time frame of the Colmar pocket battle. Belfort defences were cracked in November 1944. A remaining contingent of German troops surrendered in Metz one day before the Bulge offensive got underway. I think one of the key failures in the Bulge offensive was the ad hoc air drops of the Fallchirmjaeger during Operation Stosser. Check out Mark Felton's video.
@RangaTurk4 жыл бұрын
It was Monte Cassino after all, correction again. For the allies, capturing Afrika Korp and 10th Panzer division in Tunisia is one thing. It's debatable whether the Otto Skorzeny's Grand Sasso raid injected a bit too much life into the Italian theatre. The British raid on Taranto harbour in November 1940 and the following naval battle of Matapan involving combined Commonwealth naval forces are underrated in terms of throwing a spanner in the works in the effective supply of Afrika Korp.

I liked it really. But there's a little problem. The deutschen soldiers didn't enter the town like gangsters. They were prepared and more sneaky i guess. But it's still very cool. Thumbs up

This movie called Indigenes is about a true story in this scene these soldiers are morrocans and algerians fighting for France and it really happened in 1939-1945 and France didn't recognize they helpt them

Indeed.

Not at all, France did recognize them and many were awarded Legion d'Honneur and else. The most famous being Alain Mimoun who later became marathon Olympics winner in 1956 !!

One thing bugged me about this village defence- why put the sniper hiding in a flimsy shack right in the path of the German recon elements to be killed almost immediately when he could be picking them off at a distance? And why have the Tommy gunner way in the back? They could've made this scene way better with more creativity and awareness.

+George Miller That's true ! Thank you very much. I was shocked and angry by the stupid and ignorant comments, but yours, has touched me and moved me. My grandfather was one of those soldiers of the French Army of Africa. He fought the Nazis in North Africa, in Italy, in France and finally in Germany. All that is shown in this film is true. Alas, they did not had the glory and honor they deserved.

Many thanks for your comment. Ignore the stupid, ignorant comments of some, many of which are racist. I have also lost count of the number of people who think these are American soldiers! Respect to your Grandfather and the brave men who fought with him.
@canicheenrage8 жыл бұрын
foreverblueclassics But of course. Ignore the "stupid, ignorant" comments of "some", to focus on even retarded ones but that confirm what you think. Don't bother if they believe that those men deserved better than a lame and one-sided movie like this, no, just dismiss them as racist. Remember: This movie is about racism in France ( even though the "indigènes" discovered to their amazement that the metropolitan french people saw them as equals, and thanked them for risking their lives for them, far from the colonial mentality; But no, as the idiot said "they fight but never thanked" ), and critics of the movie are bad because "they don't know what propaganda is and germans lost the war and they were SS, wehrmacht was only on the eastern front". In short, divorce from reality, instead of embracing its complexity. Brilliant.

The people I was speaking of are those who are using terms like "fuck Islam" and much worse. I don't know how you can begin to know what my opinion is when you don't know me. Personally I have no religion and think that the world would be a better place without it. But then, that's just my opinion. But those calling people names and insulting their beliefs is what I was referring to in my comment. I have the utmost respect for the vast majority of men on both sides who fought in WW2, most of whom were good people caught up in crazy times. None of the European powers who had colonies can look back with much pride when it comes to the way they treated their colonial troops. This movie has made an attempt to face this and the makers should be congratulated for that, despite its faults.

I knew it is some kind of shitty brainless movie when the clip starts with a group of german stay very close together while approaching the village, they're like ' Yeah, let stick together so the enemies could throw a grenade into us and kill us all'.

Germans can't hit the side of a barn 10 yards in front, while the Allied soldiers can kill a German 150 yards out with a pistol. I see why Germans lost the war, at least according to movie makers any way. Can this be true?

I don't see what that's got to do with this movie, considering the soldiers are North African and the film was made by French, Belgians, Algerians and Moroccans. There is nothing American about this movie, let alone Hollywood.
