I think a clarification needs to be set here. 1. VISA or Mastercard: I'd prefer both. I wanted to say that I have more visa cards than Mastercard that is why I prefer visa over Mastercard. But Mastercard is globally accepted as well. So do not worry about it. 2. Regarding Thomas cook: the first axis forex card I used was issued by Thomas cook only and even when I want to exchange money I do it through Thomas cook. On the trust meter, there is no issue with them. The only problem is that their exchange rates are high and the reloading process is also not so smooth. My father personally still prefer Thomas cook since we have seen that they are reliable and we have gotten Euros, SGD, THB and USD from them without any issues. Go for NiYO Global Card you don't have to convert your current. You can load money in INR Zero Markup And you can use it anywhere in the world.

I have Forex card that I bought from BMF. I withdraw 500 Euros from french Atm it cost me 553 Euros and the BMF team giving me explanation saying that because I withdraw in USD so 53 Euros are conversion charges is that can happen?

It's my second month here in the US and I still can't figure out how do I get my parents to transfer money to me. I don't want to pay a whole lot of transaction fees. Good presentation. I must add that HDFC Bank charges issuance fee of 500/- but this money is refunded after about a month or so. You could check that yourself.

Hi Parth, There is a new rule by the RBI which entails ust o pay a 5% fee if the amount in our forex card or during remittance exceeds 7 lakhs. This in turn ends up costing ~8-10% more when the final rates are taken into perspective. eg. today the official rate for is $1 = INR 73.75, however, I checked for my fee which is $12.5k, after taking all the fee etc into perspective the rate I am getting is $79.8 (after tax returns the rate is 79.2). Is there any other way to pay the fee to atleast avoid the 5% fee? A difference of ~INR 45k for a payment of $12.5k. What my major ask here is, 1. Can I use my forex to load my bank account that I open upon entering the US (Chase, Amex, etc) 2. I can load 6 lakhs multiple times and load that into my US account and pay using the credit card I get issued there. Also, when you were studying (I am not sure if you still are), was your youtube/insta money taxed by US or India? And was it counted in the 20 hour work limit we have on F1 visas during study period.
