Forged VQ37VHR build part 8, VVEL motor removal

This will be the first built VQ37VHR that i'll document. I'll toss in every bit of information so that maybe more people will feel a bit less intimidated by building these themselves. This will be released in multiple parts since there's a lot to cover, so please sub to stick around to see the rest! Time for another VQ owner to go fast!
Part 8, i'll be removing the VVEL motors and sensors. Some tips and tricks will be thrown in along the way.

I just got my timing cover off last night--- now the fun begins. I'm taking it slowly....I need to inspect my engine and change gallery and head gaskets.

When you found the middle in the VVEL assembly.. Mine doesn’t move at all. Is that an issue. I bought a used engine from someone who doesn’t know it’s history. Everything up to this point checks out in accordance to what you’ve said. Funny story, checking valve clearances, I was getting frustrated because I didn’t realize I was using metric gauges and you were using standard. So when you said 15.. Mine went in easily, all the way to 30 😬. It took for me to look at the service manual to realize that it was user error and not a bad head 😅. Edit: It just moved… 😩😂🤣

Ahh, yeah. I listed the picture of metric and standard measurements from the FSM for that reason. I use SAE because that's what most local machine shops use.

Nice work, im doing this currently waiting on my block to come back from the machine shop! If you can do a detailed video on vvel motors being set during assembly & timing adjustment!

Technically, you just line up the reference points on the cam gears before you bolt down the cam towers. I have a timing overview video from last week that might be helpful.

Is there a part number for new VVEL sensors I need bank2. I keep getting code P1089.

Every one I've seen is a completely different and unique serial number. I'm not aware of being able to purchase them.
