I'm a Korean 90s kid, born and raised here in Korea so I watched all these old school gamers at their prime. There's a reason why ForGG's nickname was "Time Attacker." This guy's moveout timing was always a thing of mystery for everyone. Jaedong famously said that ForGG's timing attack is unblockable, even when ForGG calls it before the game starts.

1:11 ok, well we're finally walling off here, which.. which USUALLY means we're gonna expand like a normal person right? 3:42 well ouch, this is why we generally see the sunken made against this moveout 2 drones, oof 4:51 yeah, i'm liking this very much recently; the pre academy moveout into some sort of 3 rax stim/range and a reasonably quick factory. 5:39 once again +1 air attack is to kill the turrets better... let's see if forgg builds any rofl 5:53 1 at the nat 2 at the ramp, one at the front (which still has a rax) this is... very different. the rax would ordinarily be floating back here as we throw down WAY more turrets. instead 4 turrets, none in the main, but 3 protecting his barracks and 1 at the nat. this is pretty wild. 6:31 looks like pretty quick factory timing, maybe he'll go shop? 6:53 oh wow, forgg going for the knees here! just sprinting across the map as the mutas dive into the main, but if he breaks this, the mutas can never win the base race!! 7:41 yyyup! gotta be careful about diving in the main with marines on the map! forgg with the breakthrough! this honestly looks unrecoverable, i don't even think the mutas can clean this, the nat will fall, the spire is dead, this is a disaster. 8:46 yeah zerg pretty dead, starports being built, no den, just rebuilding spire, no drones, this is pretty over. 9:21 I dunno if i agree that the bust would simply fail against better players, that was a VERY aggressive dive in to the terran main, with a significant marine group quite close to Z's front. definitely possible, though, this is a razor's edge way to play for sure. if i remember correctly though, wasn't this the type of play that got him the nickname "time attacker"? thanks RT!

No turret on 1st base is good decision on that specific spawn. T 2nd base - Z 2nd base is close, so marines can attack quickly. Meanwhile, 1st base - 2nd base is far away(especially because T 2nd base turrets are on the path) So mutalisk cannot use mobility to divide and conquer. Without using mobility, mutalisk will never beat marine in straight-up fight. (Equal resource)

It's a nice theory. Push against sunks would not have worked with those mutas in the frey. Would also explain why he didn't pull away SCVs - to give those mutas a target. And I mean: he lost a third of his SCVs but he still had an okay number left.

Would you say that part of it is his decision making? He scanned the natural before pushing with his marines, decently before, saw the setup, understood he could break it, and did it. I'd love to see what would have happened if the extra sunks were up, my assumption is he would've stimmed back home or something to try to recover the muta situation?

its an odd thing because how can he have all the sunkens done and a group of lings and enough mutas to deal damage if gets into the mineral line... the is a reason the better zergs constantly pull the mutas back to delay the mm and i think that is the real difference between soulkey and this zerg. soulkey would have delayed that attack till he had exactly what he needed to stop it...then left it to go back in with the mutas or simply destroyed it out in the open. where as 123 zerg attacks expecting that a terran at his level would probably stim everything back to stop the mutas, which a better player knows doesnt work

missle turrets are the biggest waste of minerals if terrans can figure it out... im too old to actually play the game anymore but hes on to something. However you really need to see the best players to know if anything actually works despite what Artosis says
