The fit and finish is my favorite part of your videos. The clean, overall lines are way more attractive to me than fancy pattern welded steels and rare wood. That center ridge running the length of the piece is fantastic. That's not easy to do with multiple parts.

This is what I'd call a very satisfying video, no words just a master blacksmith creating something truly beautiful. thank you.

Wow! You Sir are so inspiring. I get so relaxed watching you work. You remind me of a old video I watched about 7 yrs ago. The blacksmith was commissioned to craft a long sword for the tourism ministry of a country I can't remember the name of. He did amazing work like you, including a egg shaped pommel carved from ivory of a elven maiden emerging from within the egg. With an onix grip. Turned out he was allergic to onix dust and had to premedicate before working it.

Freerk makes the kinds of blades I wish to make one day. And thank you for making your blades a home. A blade is not finished in my opinion till it has a sheath or scabbard to rest its edge in. Beautiful work.

Beautiful!! -- I would make some suggestion about your workings, though. No.1- wear leather gauntlets over your long sleeves and sweaters. They will keep your garments from catching in your power tools. They will also protect your wrist from hot sparks. No. 2 - you did not show (in this video) how it would be attached to a belt. How would you make a "frog" for this sidearm? -- One note that I have read in the past; Quite a few daggers of this type were made from broken swords. A swordsman would have a weapon that he particularly like, but it breaks, so what to do, make a dagger to go along with his new sword. But this is a very BEAUTIFUL dagger, and well made, Thank you for sharing the build!

I’ve always admired your videos for how thoroughly the footage is, demonstrating every step taken and the artistic stylings of your craft. I am especially impressed with how you create the handles of your blades, watching you work is a learning experience. But may I suggest you try making a blade of a non-Western origin? I specifically suggest that you try to create a Filipino barong with a full tang handle, as I am curious how you would construct it, as the barong is typically a blade with a “rat tail” styled handle. But this is only a suggestion from a random dude on KZbin, so do whatever you want! Keep up the good work!
@appleyanimator65416 жыл бұрын
Sir Remington another eastern blade that I really like is the Vietnamese Tr'oung Dao - although at first glance it might look like some over the top anime sword, it's extremely good at cutting due to its unique top-heavy design. Skallagrim did a review of an antique he got, if you'd like to see it being used.

Skip to 17:11 to see a thing of beauty. You've made a work of art Freerk, and the scabbard is perfect to mirror the shape of the blade. I expected a ring or attached leather loop to put on a belt or sash, but I suppose it's good enough to just stick down in your pants.
