Why remove most of the tang ? It just isn't necessary? What about heavy duty work for the knife?
@masterknives5554 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for watching and for your question! Removing most of the tang helps with balance and overall weight distribution, making the knife easier to handle and maneuver. For heavy-duty tasks, don't worry, the tang is designed to be sturdy enough to handle tough jobs without compromising durability. 🔪💪 So rest assured, it's crafted to be strong and reliable!

is it better, I really don't know but I doubt it. I personally have never had a blade made from true Japanese sword steel. theoretically I know how to make it, it's a complicated process that yields an impressive material. since people aren't inclined to break or damage such blades, be it dagger or sword it's really hard to say. we have all kinds of steel these days with all sorts of properties. bearing material isn't exactly exotic typically but can make a nice knife. I don't know about making a sword with it alone.
@masterknives5555 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for your comment! 🔪🔨 You're absolutely right that making blades from traditional Japanese sword steel (like Tamahagane) involves a complex process, yielding impressive results. It's a fascinating material with a rich history and unique properties. Modern steels indeed offer a wide range of options, each with its own advantages depending on the intended use of the knife or sword. Bearing steel, while not exotic, can still produce excellent knives due to its toughness and edge retention. Whether it's for a dagger or a sword, the choice of steel is crucial and depends on factors like intended use, design, and personal preference. It's all about finding the right balance between tradition and innovation in blade-making! Keep hammering away and creating those awesome knives! 🔥💪

Blacksmith in my locality dislike Bearing steel claiming its too Hard.is it actually harder to forge than spring steel?? I know from knife making videos Bearing steel is the best deal among reused steel for knife making. Sad that it's hard to convince my local blacksmith to make me knives from the steel😢 And again amazing work!
@masterknives5555 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for your comment! 😊 Yes, bearing steel (like 52100) is indeed harder and tougher to forge than spring steel. It requires higher temperatures and more effort, but it's worth it for the excellent edge retention and durability it provides. 💪🔥 It's unfortunate your local blacksmith isn't keen on using it. Maybe show them some of my videos or other knife-making tutorials showcasing bearing steel's benefits? 📹🔪 Thanks for the kind words and support! 🙌🔨 Keep crafting! 🗡️✨

@masterknives5555 ай бұрын
