While my health and Galaxy S7 did not turn out so well in the end, the Initial D parody was made out of my love for the series, and to hopefully have other fans get a kick out of it. The only major things that were missing, was a AE86, and my own ability to actually drive a manual transmission, but that will have to be forgiven. In October 2017, I bought a 1990 Mazda Miata that is a stick, so I know now. I just hadn't driven a manual when making this video.
Special thanks to 101 Productions for the great camera work on the parody: / danielgonzproduction
Depending on who you ask, I pronounced some of the character and course names incorrectly, but that was due to grinding through 5 hour sessions of voice overs, and just wanting to move on.
What started as a clear-cut, approximately 20 minute episode, quickly turned into the longest Forgotten Games to date. It was just too shocking to ignore all of Mountain Vengeance's flaws. It has also been my most time consuming episode. I have faith that the 100+ hours that I have put into creating this, will pay off in one way or another. Several weeks worth of filming, scripting, properly recording Arcade Stages 1-3 on the real, NAOMI 2 hardware, and editing, oh man the editing.
The mild depression that I got after the passing of Steely Dan's Walter Becker didn't help. As such, the co-founder of my favorite band has been given a proper tribute in this video and will be forever remembered. If you watched the whole video, my sincere gratitude goes to you. Seriously, you are the reason why I put as much time as I do into making these videos.
After this, I would like to start making content that won't take months to finish. It's been so long since I've uploaded, that I didn't even know that end screens only work in the final 20 seconds of the video, hence why the "end screen" at 27:20 looks weird. Whether I start making full playthroughs of games that time has forgotten, commentaries, or just short skits, I haven't entirely decided. I do not have plans to cancel Forgotten Games soon, I just want to get other content gaming content out that fans can enjoy. Follow my Twitter for more details.

Thanks for watching guys! While my health and camera were in impairment during production, (watch till the end), the video was overall a ton of fun to make. This is easily the most time consuming episode to date, (100+ hours all together), but I can tell you that it was so worth it in the end. I encourage you to see the video description for more details. EDIT: I have literally been asked over 20 times if I am British/Canadian/Australian or if my Escape is right hand drive. I'm American, I mirrored the entire opening scene and all other driving scenes to produce a fake right hand drive on the left side of the road effect. That is how it is in Japan, I wanted to take the parody to that level and also to confuse people. I even changed the digital speedometer to read KPH instead of MPH. Also while it appears as though I destroyed the clutch in the opening scene, I do know how to drive a manual. I had never driven one prior to the filming of this video, but I had to film some scenes in a manual car because the parody just wouldn't have been the same. However in October 2017, I bought a 1990 Mazda Miata that is a stick. Only about 5% of vehicles sold in America today are manual and only about 1/4th of Americans know how to drive one.

Eurobeat was borned in italy in the early 80s, and it was named as Italian Disco, or Italo-disco, mostly composed of wave-synth tunes, then it was renamed as EUROBEAT. Eurobeat became a sub-genre under the Electronic Dance music category, together with Techno, House, Trance, Acid-Techno, Drum n' bass, and much more. Hope this will answer why most people who aren't familiar with Eurobeat, and often call it Techno, or Trance.

I've been a fan of Initial D since I was 7 years old, and even I thought the TokyoPop dub was pretty off. At first I thought it was the most awesome thing ever, until I seen it in Japanese (thank god those DVDs have dual-language tracks) and thought it was so much better. I mean, I got nothing against rock or hip hop/rap (in fact, I love those kinds of music so long as it fits, like with the NFS Underground titles), but when it comes to Initial D, nothing beats Eurobeat.

I played the one with the moving cars before my local arcade got bought out by a larger company and the cars got removed. I loved it. You could usually find me leaning against the 86 trying to challenge other arcade goers. I was pretty good at it, but not as great as I wish. Just enough to wreck the casual gamers.

I got this game years ago at a library book sale in Circleville, OH. I had no knowledge an Initial D game ever released for the PC(I didn't even know about the anime at the time, I had only played Arcade Stage 3 and 4 at GameWorks years before when I was 7 or 8 and I loved it). I got it for the brilliant price $0.99, and heck, its not even that much. I got so tired of "Initialize", I changed the music to "Around the World" by move. The rest of the music I also changed to more original Eurobeat songs. Years later, I got a PS3 and bought Initial D: Extreme Stage. I wish Initial D machines were more common. Only 1 arcade in my area has one, it was a Stage 8. EDIT: The arcade that has the Stage 8 just got an older Stage 3, from the GameWorks mentioned above.

I have a few things to point out. 1: Why the hell is Sayuki (HER NAME'S NOT FUCKING SIMONE) a playable driver? Mako drove the Sil80, she was just the co-driver. 2: Iketani's first name is Koichiro, that's where Cole came from. 3: If the TOKYOPOP translation of the manga's anything to follow, these are treated more like nicknames (Proof of this being a text box reading 'Kyoichi "Kyle" Sudo' showing up during his introduction). All things aside, this was a good video. Watched it about 12 times, and I still enjoy it.

I was huge into Initial D (still am today after all these years) and I remember seeing Mountain Vengeance on the store shelves at Target. I've been tempted a couple of times into buying it, but I never did. Now that you showed footage of this game first hand, thank you for making my decision the right one after all these years! I'm glad to meet another Arcade Stage owner, I bought a Ver. 1 from a local arcade in town when they changed places and it was something I had my eye on for a few years that the owner wanted too much for the condition it was. I got both cabs for 300 bucks, and they do need some detailing and work on them, so their my pet project as of now. I'm working on trying to find card readers for them as the main thing, and I can upgrade to Ver. 3 if I get one more disc on ebay for a fair price. I do still have my Ver. 3 cards all these years later, I just hope they work when I get a working reader for them. Do you know where you got your machines from? I'm inquiring to see if they might have parts for these machines for sale that I need. If you need another voice or info on the Arcade Stage games, I know a lot about them from when I played them in the arcades over a decade ago when I was in high school. I remember the online teams that existed and some of the feuding that happened (although it wasn't really harsh, most of the trash talk happened online). I've done a podcast episode on my history of the Initial D arcade games found here: aoypodcast.com/2016/05/25/aoy-podcast-guest-spot-initial-d-arcade-stage-talk-w-the-arcade-hunters/ Thanks for the video, I also subscribed to you as well.

I remember playing an Initial D arcade game in Chuck E. Chesse back through 2012-2017 and the cool part was when you got in the arcade machine, it would tilt left or right, depending on which way you turned the wheel. I miss playing that arcade machine and it is not there anymore.

The Initial D Arcade Stage games have some aspects that don't make sense. I know it's an arcade game, but things like rapidly shifting up and down to turn faster is just strange. One gripe I have with the games is that your gear rations and even how fast the car accelerates is adjusted based on what track you are racing on, meaning on Irohazaka you can't get over 150 but on Mt. Taikan (where Ryosuke and Shinigami battled) your car magically goes 210! And having to turn the wheel the whole 270° to get around many corners is irritating.
@Vectrex4Life
@Vectrex4Life 6 жыл бұрын
Mark Lutus Yeah they don't always make sense. But there's really no other series like it. All the "fantasy" techniques that the first 3 have make them pretty tough to master and that's one reason why they're addicting. Not simulation, but not overly unrealistic like so many other arcade racers are. Cranking the wheel and shifting is half the fun in my opinion, adjusting the force feedback strength to your liking helps.
@markl76
@markl76 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can accept everything unrealistic about them, but it seems like over time the arcade games have gotten more and more aggressive with changing how fast the cars are. That's the only thing I can't get over.

ok so heres something if you want to try the plastation versions and cant find an arcade PS2- Initial D special stage - Its basically arcade stage 2 Psp- Initial D Street Stage - Its arcade stage 3 with a brand new tuning system that will make you hate your life after every race. However the game itself is tons of fun Ps3- Initial D Extreme stage - I have no knowledge about this version I never played it because in never had a ps3.
