I am with you there as I like old desert towns if abandoned and any cemeteries even ones in a big city because the epitaphs tell you a lot about people living around those areas as part of the story of those communities . Drove through Boron on Friday. Happened to get off the highway to check out something in the town, and found the aerospace museum. The single volunteer was extremely friendly and invited me to tour the interior (having to turn the lights on in the process). They received a lot of their planes from a museum in Lancaster, CA that closed. It might seem like a strange place for an aviation museum, but the proximity to Edwards Air Force Base (hence the B52 flying overhead) is the main reason for its existence.

Here I am in Auckland, New Zealand, and while I'm watching the video I'm also zooming in with Google Earth to see the photos of some of the same places. I'm an old guy now (72) but I still remember visiting LA back in 1980 at the start of a road trip that got as far as Anchorage and then back to Terrace, and the huge vistas always appealed to me. One place that really fascinates me is the great central basin between California right through to Arizona and Colorado, with all the tiny towns that have almost vanished (like Searchlight and Nipton), so thanks for your video and others like it. I went to a talk in Wellington years ago (early 1970s) by Burt Rutan, talking about his canard aircraft designs, and I think that may have been the catalyst for my interest in the Mojave desert. I'm a little surprised that you were surprised when the B52 flew over Boron, considering that Edwards Air Force base was just down the road (it also explains why there was an aerospace museum in town). Cheers and thanks from me.

32:00 The Barrel backstory- For years an orange with black stripes giant barrel has been in Boron serving up food and is one of these former A&W stands. It's basically a food stand with a small outdoor eating area consisting of a few tables and some picnic benches. The giant barrel has a walk-up window, and the place serves all sorts of the usual fast food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, tacos, etc. At one point it was painted white and called Dinky's. Now, it is just called simply "Barrel" which seems much more fitting.

DizzyDrugs @ Disneyland, the happiest corporate grifting ghetto on earth. they should bulldoze that place in Caliifornia and move it all to Florida, along with the old demented disney fanboy baby boomers from that era who are moving there in droves., that's where Disneyland belongs with the swamp things... Make California cool again, Bulldoze Disneyland thats my bumper sticker of choice

Would be nice if the all the rides at Buffalo Bills come back. I am happy my husband and I had the chance to ride the roller coaster and the log ride at Buffalo Bills way back early 2000 .Visited the casino about 4 weeks ago. Thank you for sharing your video!😊🎰
