Forgotten Vintage Racecar Left in the Woods - Will it Run Again? [Just Make it Run January]

This was 1 of 6 cars we pulled out of the woods on our "6 Car Haul" back in the Summer 2023. We decided to give this old asphalt car a chance of life again. Will our efforts of trying to get it run be worth it?

I raced against this car in 1990 or 1991 at Lanier. We were required to run restrictor plates and a 600 cfm Holley. The top 5 finishers had to pull their carburetors and an inspector checked the restrictor plate and measured the ID of the 4 holes. We were allowed to mechanically control the vacuum secondaries.

Dear Brittany and Daniel, The by you rescued race car finally runs pretty well but I miss a cooling system as far as I could see. I guess with a bit of love the car can be in competitions with other vintage race cars. Willeke and I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands

We weren't sure if it would run and didn't want to plumb the cooling system before we knew if it would fire up. We will have to get all that hooked up before driving the car. We decided that the path of lease resistance and most budget friendly would be to just make it back into a street legal race car.

They didn't have restrictor plates until Bill Elliott started lapping everybody.This car was probably before restrictor plates.

One of the comments on this video was from a guy who raced against this car in the 90's. It was neat to have some background information on this car and the racing rules from back then. Thanks! It sold to someone who is working on putting it back on the track. We did end up keeping the motor and transmission out of it to put in another build.

Looking back we should have just replaced the starter from the get go and we would have been much better off. lol
