He was a high school superstar, who decided to spend a year in college to make sure he was prepared for the pros. After one year spent with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he was a first round draft pick by the elite Sacramento Kings of the early 2000s. Unfortunately, being on a team featuring Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, Vlade Divac, Doug Christie and Mike Bibby made it hard for Gerald Wallace to carve out a role. So, he spent the first three years of his career buried on the bench. But once he was selected by the expansion Charlotte Bobcats in 2004, he showed that he was one of the most versatile players and best defenders the NBA had to offer. In 6 and a half seasons in Charlotte, he routinely finished among the top in steals and blocks as he was a one time steals leader, one time First Team All-Defense and was the franchise’s first and only NBA All-star. He first teamed Stephen Jackson in 2010 to bring the Bobcats to their first ever playoff appearance. His time in Charlotte came to an end soon after this and he spent the last few years of his career bouncing around teams like the Portland Trailblazers after Brandon Roy retired and the early Brooklyn Nets with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. His later career is better known for being a player included in the trade that brought the Blazers the draft pick which became Damian Lillard. Or the massive Nets and Celtics trade which saw the Nets give away everything for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. And even though he had a less than stellar end to his career, he still went from a raw talent to being a high energy two way star in his prime. His career is filled with highlight plays and his disregard for his body earned him the fitting nickname of “Crash”, but Gerald Wallace had rhyme to his reason as his aggressive play was always done with winning in mind.

Gerald Wallace was a slashing player who played for the worst franchise in team history. He is an Alabama native who played at University of Alabama. He gave everything that he had on the court and played under former Bobcats owner/NBA great Michael Jordan.

Jordan like others didn't know what he had and the Bobcats haven't been the same. He didn't understand to get someone to play with Gerald. The Bulls did it for him.

If Charlotte bobcats let Gerald Wallace be a starter at point guard position put Raymond Felton at SG and raja bell as SF Boris diaw at PF and tyson Chandler at C they would've been a much better team in my opinion but back then they wasnt letting small forward play point guard position

people claim the Kings got robbed by the Lakers & the Refs in '02... the Kings refused to play Wallace in playoffs for 3 years despite being the perfect all-effort 20 minute per night #8 man on the team, then did not protect him... Gerald Wallace was one of the best players from '06 to '12 with good offensive & defensive numbers & elite athleticism... in '06 had 2.5 steals and 2.1 blocks!!! then in '10 had 10 boards at 6 feet 7 inches taking a weak Charlotte franchise to the playoffs... fun player to watch... fax!!!
