Every time I pulled the trigger (5.56), the recoil would kill the power. I'd have to turn it back on, cycle through the reticle options to get the one I wanted, then repeat the process. That was a $200 something dollar optic too, in early 2000s dollars.

We need more honesty and straightforward facts from companies like this. These guys are awesome!

Nothing he said is anything anyone shouldn't already know. Specs is what drives costs up. Reaching specs is an exponential climb too. You're always getting diminishing returns. To make something twice as good it costs 10 times as much. Sometimes it's worse than that.

That level of honesty in the commercial world is quite refreshing. He's just won my respect and business.

In a sea of Shot Show pitches ... this was one of the most refreshing interviews I've heard from an equipment manufacturer in years!

This level of honesty in a world where deceit has become the standard is worth my support alone. Shoutout to Mike from Gideon Optics for being a man of integrity. I hope Gideon Optics experiences enormous growth and becomes the #1 brand for affordable quality optics.

Thank you for the honesty! As someone who has been making the same arguments for years, only about AR-15's, you've given me a whole new way to present the differences between brands and price points.

OMGIan… this is an amazing episode and embodies one of the reasons that out of like 90 KZbin channels that I follow you’re the oldest, I don’t click unsubscribe on you because you feed us reviews you feed us information about historical guns and you feed us information like this, which 90% of your viewers can use and will it directly affect them if they purchase an optic of this type

Thank you for the interview and the honesty of Gideon. I did purchased a Swampfox LPVO because of Him and now I'll definitely be a costumer of Gideon. 100%

Great interview, informative and to the point. As with Cars, Boats, Planes, etc. some are collectors, of the best. Trophies, never used, but worth tons. There are those that have taken, and used lesser like kind with outstanding results, in the end it all comes down to, the driver, who's behind the stick, who can command a crew, and who is behind the trigger. I see more people that are more than 2% off daily and they seem to be doing just fine. Thanks Ian and Mike.

As you implied, that tricked out $7,000 rifle will only perform as well as YOU can make it!😏😏😏

A very refreshing and frank interview. I finally placed an order for their prism optic yesterday. Although, I will start it on a simple AR I plan to add it to my FN Scar 16S to see how well it will do. I saw another KZbinr's "how much will it take" video a week ago that prompted me to place my order.

Good subject. It’s refreshing to hear such frank answers from a company. The shooting industry has way too much hype in marketing its products.

Definitely agree!🙂 Too much "we ARE the BEST"! Honest comparison of features, with truth of WHY yours is better (for MY needs/application)!😯 Just might get you an on the spot sale! 😃😃😃

That was so refreshing. Somebody who knows their shit that is willing to tell it how it is. Full transparency and talking to us as if he was us, making a decision on the customer's end. Baller

I work in supply chain management for an aerospace company and can confirm the prices of qc and administrative waste are baked in as much as possible and it’s a constant push to quantify these kinds of expenses and bill our sub component suppliers who then turn around and raise their prices causing us to raise our prices. This kind of cander in a buisness model is a great idea. He’s right I don’t need aimpoint quality or the latest and greatest emitters for my purposes. I will be buying one of his optics soon.

8:12 Without doxing myself, i work for a major weapons manufacturer and see this all the time. Parts with some sort of error that is only seen with a magnifying glass will get reworked and if it isn't perfect it's thrown away.

I more or less "fell" into using Holosun dots, based on AVAILABILITY more than anything... and at my age I just love the "Circle and Dot" option on my 507K's... It's interesting to hear an industry insider confirming my very amateur , rather high opinion of those sights!

Love the honesty, we all know that he is right and it is refreshing to see someone say it straight up. "If you are in the SAS, you should probably ask someone to procure one of the expensive ones. If you are a normal person, this is just fine"

This might be the best interview I've ever seen at a show like this. No marketing BS, no wink-wink nudge-nudge, just... 'this is my product, and this is when it makes sense.' Big respect.
