@MemeMagicDotWin5 жыл бұрын
@@Stoney3K Well, blowback actions don't lock, so there would be no point in using a tilting barrel in a blowback action. Maybe you meant a machine gun that uses a short-recoil action (in which case, a 1911-style titling barrel lock could work). That's something I've wondered. I know there have been some machine pistols that use such a mechanism, but I don't know of any full-sized sub machine guns that do. I watched it like 5 times, but still do not get how the semi auto works. What acts as the disconnector? If the trigger frees that block to move under spring pressure from the bolt, what stops it from going forward again when it cycles?
@Coalzak5 жыл бұрын
It works the same way as the sear on a paint ball gun. The trigger can only interact with sear when it is moved forward - which happens when the bolt catches on it
@disco_falcon18955 жыл бұрын
I had the same question. After watching that section a few times, I noticed that there is a small tab on the lower right hand side of the screen that pivots up when the single shot trigger is pulled but slides straight back when the auto trigger is pulled. My guess is that this little tab is the disconnector and is pushed down by the bolt in its rearward travel.
@deanp20125 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the little bar that pivots at the back of the trigger housing gets pushed down by the just fired bolt(which can be seen when the trigger is pulled), which then closes the locking bar which stops the sear block from being able to be pushed down. I assume if you were to hold down the semi-auto trigger, then either the trigger would be pushed forward or the bolt would close not completing its cycle causing a dry fire.
@DSlyde5 жыл бұрын
@Mike Johnsonbaugh except it goes over that flat face when you first pull the trigger and the block moves though? It has to, otherwise it couldn't fire in the first place. It can't just be that face, as it's always there. There has to be some mechanical change after the first shot is fired to prevent the second.
@ThZuao5 жыл бұрын
If you pull the long trigger, it lifts up a tab that seems to be what holds the sear lifted up in semi auto fire by the bolt itself. That's your disconnector. Don't @ me though.

@@antoniofdez620 why would an army waste time acquiring guns that don't work? And they weren't milled to the best of my knowledge, they were almost all done by people in the countryside with handtools that got handed a pistol and was told to make more of them.

I've been reading the comments and I believe I can figure out the answer to some of the questions posted there, In Nicaragua at the time there were mostly American m16 chambered in 5,56 x 45 given by the CIA, Soviet surplus kalashnikovs chambered in 7,62 by 39 as well as it's sniper variant in 7,62 X 54, and a few FALs; and for handguns both 38 short and long, 9 mm both regular and Makarov and 7,62 tokarevs. Off course ammo on those calibers were almost only in the hands of military groups and the only guns available for the public was 22 rimfire chambered weapons which were mostly bolt action rifles used for hunting iguanas (22 and 38 handguns were fairly common too), so what Mr. Osorio did was to create a tool that would take the available ammo which could be compact and with a lot of firepower, he could have also used a 38 cartridge but the recoil would probably make the gun harder to handle specially it being so short. And another thing about this guy's work, the gun might be very well done, but you would have to consider the cost of the processes needed to achieve the final result, it would probably have not been very profitable. If this comment sounds a bit hateful might be the frustration of living in a country with no army and crazy gun laws (Costa Rica), right next to a country were guns are readily available for anyone with the money to purchase it.

This is an amazing find! Quick history lession -> This was most likely a a gun created for the Nicaraguan Revolution; if it's handmade it was most likley created for Sandinista rebels (probably at the very start of the revolution) against the Auth-right Somoza Dictatorship and the Contras; BUT eventually rebels would start to gather and repair/improve the weapons taken from the Contras. The most common and famous weapons used in the revolution was actually the FAL and M1-Garand; so famous in fact that a song was written for each of them during the revolution. It's important to note that the U.S. funded the Contras to "combat communism" during the red scare which is how both sides got their hands on heavier firepower. Sandino had long since been dead but was an icon for Nicaraguan independance, especially against U.S. imperalism. So the FSLN was formed using the same/similar ideologies as other revolutionaries, not just Sandino; Pancho Villa, Zapata, Tupac (not the rapper the warrior hes named after), Farabundo Marti, and even taking notes from the French Revolution, all of which would be considered "Socialist" today; a basic principle of the goverment having very little power if any at all, and the people united controlling the country.) Again, this is an amazing find, keep up the good work!

@fablesguykol30254 жыл бұрын
@@klausbrinck2137 .22 mag has a fair bit more pressure so you'd need a beefier spring, and in general you could need to replace the bolt as well so it has enough mass to not open too early from the cartridge going off.
@klausbrinck21374 жыл бұрын
@@fablesguykol3025 Thanks for the answer! but chambering for .22lr and .22mag is the same, isn´t it? So, there is modifications cause of the powder-loading, but not because of the different cartridge-dimensions?
@fablesguykol30254 жыл бұрын
@@klausbrinck2137 I'd need to look that part up but by in large you would need to remake some parts of the gun to handle .22 mag types of pressure and loading. As far as I know mag and LR are dimensionally the same. Edit: oh boy was I wrong. Yeah no magnum is waaayyy longer than LR. By a lot.
