Safety Goats without practical experience at least 50% of the time design safety hazards into many things they design. Why? Because they have no experience using them. I imagine the safety guys had a lot to do with the 737MAX mods. Make it safe for Pilots to fly! Achieved the exact opposite. Without it hundreds more alive today.

Is there such a thing as a safety pro? O ya. He said for a big outfit. Look guys no one wants to get hurt, but if it were up to safety pros nothing would get done, cause even getting up in the morning isn’t a safe action. The safety department has way too much power. Do everyone a favor and just stay in your office. But don’t drink the coffee cause you might burn a blister on your tongue. O I hope not.

I am a Norwegian forklift repair guy, and in Norway, the fork tips can legally be modified the first four inches if it is not considered as a problem, since load center on forks for counterweight forklifts are 600mm from the fork heel. The hook is not welded on the fork apron, but on the load support, so I would have no problem sertifiing this equippment.

@AD UNUM TRISTIS SA traffic police only care if you are exceeding the speed limit going past their particular siesta spot, not really anything else. Only ones you have to watch out for are the ones driving motorbikes, because they are freesh out of training, and actually want to enforce the law, instead of doing like the others and go hunting for speedsters as easy ways to meet quota. Also, do not drive a car with outside the province plates in a small town, they rely on fines to balance the books, and figure most people will pay a fine rather than travel to Pitsonderwaterbydiemiddelvannerensdorp court to contest it in 3 months time, seeing as you will be there with a judge and prosecutor, who both get paid from the fine revenue. But just drive a tractor real slow, and have all parts look the same green, without leaving too many bits behind, no problem. Or by me just be wary of a truck loaded with sugar cane, because the road will be littered with slippery sap as bits slide off.

Crossbar bolted to the fork holes (with a permanently mounted ball in the center) cures the 3 wheel tango quite nicely and for those naysayers that feel this would be wayyy too time consuming to bolt on & off... one could spend just a little more time and money and take things to the next level by welding the crossbar (complete w/ball hitch) onto two long pieces of hollow rectangle stock & then just speed drive the forks right on into the hollow rectangle pieces and bam bobs your uncle...

That's good that you welded that hook on behind the pins. If you need to pick up a heavy chunk of iron that's not so dimensionally large, you can actually exceed the weight rating of the loader if you get in behind the pin and lift it from there. If you go even a few inches in front of the pins, you can lose hundreds of pounds in capacity with the way a front end loader is designed. I once tried to pick up a Bridgeport, which is about an even ton, with a supposedly 1.5 ton tractor loader, and it simply would not pick the mill up with the chain over the front of the bucket. This was even with the bucket curled all the way down so that the center of mass was just a few inches in front of the pins. I slung it over the back of the bucket just behind the pins and it picked it up no problem. It didn't even dog the engine whereas before it triggered the overpressure bypass on the hydraulics. Leverage is an amazing thing.

Why? Because we own its Operating System. I can picture my long dead Kansas farmer, Uncle Bob hearing that back in the early 1970s. My Dad was a B-52 pilot who married my Mom from NW Kansas. He was an AF trained P-80 jet fighter mechanic before he became a pilot. We always had a 30 day summer vacation and Dad loved to drive the REO Speed Wagon truck from the field to the grain elevator. He gave me my first oral lesson in fuel-air explosives while we dumped the truck with wheat dust whirling all around. It was a no smoking area even in 1973. He would help my Uncle Bob, the farmer, if the combine broke down. Usually some bolt thingy in the deep bowels of the “cut wheat...spit out wheat grain” combine machine. I need to look up why it was called a combine. My Dad would dutifully run to the local parts store and retrieve the exactly correct part. While driving back, he would would see my Uncle Bob running the combine and cutting wheat while the Thunderheads were rising in the Western Sky. My Uncle would say something like, “we just jammed a nail in there. Bent it over and got going before any hail came in.” My Dad had a hard time handling that after being a jet fighter mechanic. They didn’t use bent nails. But later we saw what a 5 minute hail storm could do to a wheat field. And my Dad understood. RIP. DAD and Uncle Bob.

Lifting and pulling capacity you say? Wheels off the ground or digging holes? - add weight. Still hanging or digging after more weight? - add weight. Won't budge? Then it's too heavy.
@SeanBZA
@SeanBZA 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the ground, add too much weight and it will very quickly become something with your backside level with the ground. I saw guys fly cutting grass, as in they would fly in at over 60kph, and never slow down. Slow down and you would sink up to your seat in the somewhat swampy ground. You might need 23 tow trucks, of varying capacity, to get you out ( along with one of the other trucks) depending on how far you were off the hard surface.

Not tea bag, LOL. Only thing that could improve the hook a little would have been a stud welded in before the hook was added and then welded together. A little more meat to hold the end there, just weld it all up, no threads required. But yeah, those Swiss Army knife style implements are handy to have around for if you do a little bit of something here or there but beyond that when you want to dig a deep hole you want a real excavator, you want to push the big pile of dirt you want the bulldozer, you want to piss the ole lady off you want the new corvette with the hot chick down the road in the passenger seat...

As someone who did grow up on a farm, I can confirm you opinion of tractors is correct. They are built for pulling and supplying rotary power or hydraulic power to implements out the back. If you have a bobcat or a larger front end loader, all the thing-a-ma-doos hanging off the front are cheap garbage. But they're still about a million times better than doing it by hand.

One day the excavators had made a big round pile that looked just like the were nesting, so I dug my mate in the ribs and pointed out the nesting dinosaurs. First trip next morning a couple of Bobcat sized things were charging about on the shingle, the passengers wondered what we were laughing about.

What ya need is a good old Massey or Ford , the ones that come in iron oxide red , have real metal seats , and require a wheelbarrow that hauls around a battery and jumper cables . They seldom give out , can be beat day in and day out , and only require a half gallon of hydrolic to every four gallons of fuel . They don't come with the very contagious stomach virus that seems to show up with the green broken parts . I heard tale that that virus has been bad enough to cost folks their arm and a leg and even sometimes farmers daughters had to do some strange payment practices in mop closets to find the cure . Real rough virus , just glad it's not carried by the the older senior tractors .

I find i put the tow ball in most of the time to stop slings from slipping off the end when trying to pick up thing that I shouldn't be trying to pick up that way. usually with the carry all on the back, with a full bag of whatever is heavy and nearby, but It is usually a futile effort as the rear wheels rarely make contact with mother earth. Oh, first job is to find the hydraulic relief valve, and make sure she is adjusted to withing the safety factor margin of the components aka about 3 to 5 times what the hose has written on it. Just gotta remember that with shiney machines that you want to wind it back to OEM settings before the factory mechanic works on it for warranty reasons.
