Good review! Thanks for the info! Long time Harley rider here, ordered my new 2022 Ktm 390 adventure yesterday! Thank you sir!

I have the Forma ADV low and I have to do the same thing with shifters on all my bikes. I move my foot back out from under the shifter if I don't anticipate shifting. No issues.

Solid review, but at first I thought your phone was ringing. Sorry but that soundtrack is very distracting, and your review is good so it doesn't need any music at all

Hello, I just received these boots yesterday. I’m a long time street rider, although I did have a V-Strom 650 for many years. I haven’t used them outside the house yet but this is my initial impression: in comparison to my old Sidi street boots these will take some getting used to. They are heavy, clunky, hot and very stiff. I tried to get my toe under the shifter and it was very difficult. So I loosened up the buckles as much as possible and it may be okay, but still difficult. I’ve read there is no room to move the shifter up (and still function) on the new KLR650 but I will try. The boots are very sturdy and light-years ahead of my old boots in terms of safety. I wear a size 9.5 US, and the size 43 fit perfect, with lots of room for my toes to move up and down. My biggest concern is they will be too hot, my socks were damp after wearing them for less than an hour in the house. And, I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area so…hmm.

Yeah, if you're in Arizona where the weather gets REALLY hot, then a boot that breathes more might be better. It's true that I haven't worn them in excessively hot temperatures, so I can't speak to that. But I've never had a sweaty foot problem before.

Can’t you adjust the shifter?

If its the plastic thats squeeking try using a silicone spray/lubricant

Hope these boots are still treating you well! Any updates on waterproofness?

Waterproofing is still holding up strong. My feet stay dry all the time. And still comfortable.

@@OldTomRides thanks for the response! I ended up picking up a pair. Been super happy with them so far. I appreciate the video!

I have these now, couple weeks. I have found that the height from base of sole to top of toe box is rather large and it make it difficult to get my toe under the shift lever, even I have raised the shift lever on my BMW F 850 GSA as high as practical. And I sometimes am unable to engage next gear up. I have started using the lip of the sole to engage the shifter as opposed to the top of toe box.

I agree that the toe box is tall. I got used to it and having had them now for a couple years, I'm pretty happy with the boots. But I can't leave my foot under the shifter like I used to.

Hi. I was thinking that using the lip of the soul to shift might be a solution. Are you still using this method and how is it going?

Thanks for the review! I just got my first bike(honda crf 250l) and looking for a pair of boots. I read too many confusing stuff and cant decide if i should go for a pair of mx boots like the forma terrain tx enduro for more protection, or this(the terra evo x) will be more than enough for dual sport driving. Do you think the terra evo x would save my ankle if the bike falls on it?
@OldTomRides3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, but it's funny you ask this question. I got back a month ago from a trip to Colorado to do the COBDR (see ridebdr.org) and got pinned by my bike on a fall and the bike was on my right leg pinned by the calf and foot. I can't tell you if it was actually on my ankle because my knee was the pain point (me facing forwards, right foot pointing backwards), but I can tell you that I had no foot injury at all. I'm very glad I bought a tougher, more protective boot.

Had the toe box softened up at all over time? I like the boots but walking is awkward and hoping the toes might flex more with time.
@OldTomRides3 жыл бұрын
No, the toe box has not softened up. I didn't really expect it to either since it has that large plastic protective covering. Yes, the boots can be awkward for walking. I had a pair of Gaerne Balanced Oiled boots and they were practically like tennis shoes they were so comfortable. But they had zero protection for the toe and ankle areas. I chose these for better protection. I don't find them uncomfortable for walking, just not what I would wear for hiking.

So how were the Terra Evo-X Dry on the CBDR trip?
@OldTomRides2 жыл бұрын
They were great! Especially when I fell and the bike pinned my leg against the ground. Softer boots might have left me with some foot damage, but I was unharmed. Dry on all water crossings too. I'm very happy with these boots.
@CapCityDC2 жыл бұрын
@@OldTomRides Thanks good to know. I'm deciding between these and the Sidi Crossfire 3s which are a much stiffer and a moto X type boot, so in theory more protective, especiallyin the ankle area. I tried the Sidi X-Power, which is similar to the Crossfire, but they did not fit real well.

Good looking boots. I'm eyeing a pair of these, but also considering Alpinestar Toucans, both recommended by Atomic. I'm more on-road riding than you from the looks of it. Any reason they couldn't be used for a mix of road/dirt touring? Do the boots feel pretty warm?
@OldTomRides3 жыл бұрын
A mix of road/dirt is exactly how I use them. As to the warmth factor, right now we're having 100f degree weather in the Pacific Northwest, so the plus here is that my feet don't feel hot. As to how they'll perform in cooler temperatures, I expect they'll be more or less like my old boots: good until you get to freezing temperatures. That'll take more time to see how they fare in the cold.

Why not just adjust shifter? problem solved it's what I've done on all my bikes, general bike setup for yourself

Yeah, I stopped putting background music on my other videos for that exact reason.
