Hi guys! In this video I talk about the advantages of using Squared 100mm filters, but also about the quality and the differences of the IRND and Diffusion Filters made by Formatt Hitech.
I've tested these filters both with 2x Anamorphic (Isco Ultra Star Gold), 1.5 Anamorphic (Iscorama 42) and with a lot of spherical lenses (Sigma 16-28mm f2.8, Zeiss Distagon 21mm f2.8, Zeiss Distagon 25mm F2, Zeiss Apo Sonnar 135mm F2, Meyer Optik 30mm f3.5, Primoplan 58mm f1.9 and 75mm f1.9) on the Panasonic Lumix S1 and Lumix S5. With every setup I've tried, I always been super happy with the results I was getting!
Like always, with diffusion filters you've to be super careful with every strong source of light in the scene because they all cause ghosting artifacts in you images. So, be careful with them if you plan to use them for run and gun documentaries!

Hi there, Luca. Thanks for the video. All the filters look good. On the S5 and S1, is there really a big difference between using an ND filter and an IRND? I am pretty sure the S1 and S5 (and S1H) all have IR filters built in, don't they? Also, I hope one day you can make a video about your TECHNIQUE using manual focus lenses, since I get VERY SHAKEY footage whenever I try to focus manually. Even if I use a Panasonic lens like the 24-105 f/4 and try to focus manually, I still get shakey footage :( Thanks again. Mark in Marin County, CA

Thanks Mark! With the Lumix S and cameras with the IR filters, there's not much of a difference between normal ND and IRND filters. But if you buy a blackmagic camera, you will want to have the IRND filters. Yes, I'll make a video tutorial for manual focus lenses. It will probably come in one month or two! Ciao!
