It's recorded that Jesus himself said. in Matthew 16:28 "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom." And that DID NOT HAPPEN as "Jesus" said ... I am sure you, like so many Christians will do mental gymnastics to say that doesn't mean what it says right there in black (red) and white. @user-wx2fg6zv4o let me share one of the signs of a cult. This is from Google on how cults treat people who leave the cult. "Leaving is forbidden: In cults, there is no valid reason why any member would leave, and there's a belief that any member who does leave is wrong or even evil." Christianity is successful because it uses the same psychological control tactics that cults use, including the verses you just quoted. Religion is a mind virus and evolved just like a biological virus. The religion that happened upon the most effective manipulation techniques to take over one's mind and propagate itself is the one most likely to succeed.

I fear that as long as there are wealthy and powerful people who want to keep control of others and as long as there are fearful people who refuse to think for themselves, there will be the religiously afflicted among us. So many people are too afraid to think things through and question what they've been taught because they believe (and have been taught) that their deity hears their thoughts and will punish them for doubting. It's a failsafe for keeping vulnerable people imprisoned in religious belief.

Christianity became the state religion of Rome as it was declining. How could doctrines not be adjusted to suit the purposes of the authorities? The fall of Rome with the barbarians coming in, food shortages, and plagues was a prolonged, deep crisis. No wonder the old gods were overthrown. Industrial civilization will be rocked.to its core by resource depletion and climate change. Our old religions will also go by the way. My siblings and I were raised without any specific faith because my parents wanted us to have the freedom to choose that they weren't given growing up. They both grew up Catholic. I did attend church briefly at age five but I think it was more for the experience than anything else, that and probably to appease both sets of grandparents since at the time we were living in the same small town. About all I know for sure is that when I told my mom at age six that I didn't want to go to church anymore she simply asked if I was sure and then said ok and let the issue be. That's one thing that, while I may have my share of disagreements with my folks about how I was raised, I'll always be grateful for.

Dang… KZbin ate my comment… Great thoughts on this post, some questions: 1. What will be so different about the next 75 years than the previous 1990 years that will undermine this religion on such a short historical time scale? 2. Are you predicting the end of all Christianity or just the hyper-literalist evangelical version you spent half a century inside of? 3. Since neither of us will live until 2099, what will Christianity look like in 2044 if what you say is true, and what might it look like if you are wrong, causing you to re-examine this prediction? Anyway, my first post was better. Hopefully this one will stick.

Mostly because we are living in constant change and threat of dramatic change. Will civilization even survive to 2099? If society survives and experiences dramatic upheaval, religion could thrive. Hard to imagine society going another 75 years without much shake up, but if it maintains current trajectory, I can’t imagine religion being a large institution in the west. I can appreciate the insight to deconstruct. I used to be a Calvinist and had to study my way out. I later found out how much of Christianity is under the fundamentalist mind warp. At this point i am not a fundamentalist nor liberal but still a Christian. I believe my views line up with conservative Christianity. But there definitely is a toxic immature aggressive jug head like approach to a lot of it. In a lot of ways it seems similar to how religion was in the 1st century when Christ came to visit. I am open to challenge my views on any level. But we live in postmodern era. And i wanted to deconstruct in 2004. So I researched historical evidence with an open mind. I researched honestly and openly online for a year. There is more i want to research. But i know there are very educated people who have deconstructed. I am mostly noticing bias run amuck in our age. So i trust academics to a point. So i am willing to look at all sides of an issue at any time. I am leery of spin or reasons that might lead to deconstruction. Like i was gonna honestly go to Christians Anonymous meeting. I was calling them on the phone while reading the website and saw that it encouraged me to believe in non fables like evolution. Which is a theory and challengeable. So i hung up the phone...lol. You guys we live in a day and age where Fauci is saying trust the science. And we want to hold science up as a super standard? I am a believer in science. Many founding science fathers were believers in Christ too. Christians are in good company. But it is just that i don't think i will deconstruct. Because what happened to me at age 20 was not someone's influence or opinion. I simply prayer to God to show me. And He did. And something different happened for sure. So i don't know how to categorize one who believed and did not. The verse thrown around a lot from 1 John is addressing a church that was ravaged by Gnostics professing to be Christians. And 1 John is an historic relic because it was written at the close of the century (along with Jude) to speak out against Christianity being the same as Gnosticism. Even though that is a view some hold to day. Historically it was written to contrast Gnosticism. What i found in online research for a year was that Julian in the 4th century was a Ceaser of Letters. Powerful and insightful and closer to antiquity at ground zero. He would have known if Christianity came from other religions. And what he did is try and pervert Christianity with other religions. Why do that if you have the proof that it was from other religions? He never mentioned that in all his writings. And THAT is the person of interest to prove if Christianity was from other religions. As for today and 2099 most wont be alive then, but good guess. Lets see what happens in the 2 to 5 years. I am still a cessationist. So this isn't prophecy. But look at the massive detail in Ez 38 and see how it is aligning with the Abraham Accords, a likely Trump election, and a soon coming Saudi normalization. Those things will be provable within the next 1 to 3 years. And perhaps Ez 38 within the next 5. Not to far to take note. Of course i could be wrong. But if not, i would say Christianity will be over a lot sooner than 2099. Maybe by 2030?

"...and saw that it encouraged me to believe in non fables like evolution. Which is a theory and challengeable. So i hung up the phone...lol" I don't think you understand that the term "Theory" in scientific usage is not the same as the colloquial definition used in casual speech. Per The American Museum of Natural History: "In everyday use, the word "theory" often means an untested hunch, or a guess without supporting evidence. But for scientists, a theory has nearly the opposite meaning. A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts." and "A theory not only explains known facts; it also allows scientists to make predictions of what they should observe if a theory is true. Scientific theories are testable. New evidence should be compatible with a theory. If it isn't, the theory is refined or rejected. The longer the central elements of a theory hold-the more observations it predicts, the more tests it passes, the more facts it explains-the stronger the theory." TL/DR: The theory of gravity is a theory. You good with that one? If not, stay away from cliffs, friend.

@@barbarasmith2693 Hi Barbara. Yes you bring up a good point. But the sense of not demonstrating or observing new species is why i would see it as theory from what i understand. I never really got that deep into evolution. In 2019 1,000 scientist signed on to affirm their dissent from Evolution. Some of them would likely be pretty smart and at least know why they differ as representing theory as assumption. I don't think there are any scientists that disagree with the law of gravity. Maybe they might differ on theory. I forget which logical fallacy it is. I understand your point with gravity. And it is actually a good one. But I don't believe evolution has the same theory value as gravity. Gravity is observable today. There are theories to explain what we are looking at today. But no one has seen species change like they can observe gravity. In that sense it would be to some degree a fallacy to compare gravity which in enormously observable with evolution which lacks that readiness of observability. As a believer and despite the premise of much of this channel, this could be a forum for some good, as there are significant issues about Christianity culturally. When however, it is suggested that there is nothing to validate any of the Christian claims, then just how is anyone to take this content seriously? There are ancient writings and archeology validating in some remarkable ways the historicity of the Bible and the Christian faith. There is the evidence of good works wrought out institutionally by followers of Jesus. There are the principles of proper hygiene, diet, farming, benevolence, and lifestyle that placed the word of God on the vanguard of culture centuries back. There is the prophetic evidence, as envisioned for example in the book of Daniel, chapter 2. If we also take this channel's content to its logical conclusion, we denigrate many other faith traditions - Islam and Judaism primarily as well as many others - that have brought humanity some progress. Additionally, if we regard those who we disagree with as "nutjobs" or various principles we don't agree with as "ridiculous" we are suggesting that progress will occur apart from proper and vigorous scholarship. Isn't this going backwards? Yes, religion too has been appropriated as challenge to growth, but the same is also true of constructs like communism, and scholastic atheism and agnosticism.

I am not going to deride all of dispensationalism, but perhaps like all "schools" of prophecy it has its problems, and I believe great, great problems. Note again, the disciples point to the Temple. Jesus responds, "Watch out that no one deceives you." His response does not altogether correlate to what they are speaking of. An indication perhaps that Jesus is using the occasion to speak of other - greater - matters, keeping in mind just how erroneous their regard of Jesus' ministry was. It is considered that Jesus' response dealt somewhat to what was to come in a relatively short while - the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD - but had greater implications, perhaps for our time. This account, known as the synoptic apocalypse, is a microcosm of the book of Revelation. It appears in the synoptic gospels - Matthew, Mark & Luke. It is not in the Gospel of John. John wrote Revelation -the Apocalypse - the full-scale narrative. Rather than Gibson's past dispensational understanding, I suggest a study in the historicist understanding. You could of course study all three major understandings, dispensational, preterist & historicist, however, I suggest not to arrive at so ready a conclusion as you now are. Many blessings.

Mark is the closest we will ever get to the historical Jesus, unless something older is found, and it is clear to me from Mark 10:17-18 that Jesus is not god, and Mark 13 is strong evidence that Jesus was another failed Jewish apocalyptic prophet. The gospel of Mark is beautiful and I’m glad it exists. I appreciate your response! Cheers!

Do you think religion in general or just Christianity? It’s weird to realize that most religions are just people following the words of a man aka “prophet” and mythological stories. Yes, science and philosophy disprove religion. But spirituality may still be a thing, nothing wrong with being spiritual…

I understand that you don't believe anymore and that's fine, you do you. The Bible says some will fall away. The problem is you're definitely not giving Christianity a fair shake in any of your videos. You say that we try to evangelize and who wouldn't if they recognize that Christ died for our sins. It would be idiotic not to. You are also on here evangelizing, whether you realize it or not, for science. The thing is do you think us Christians have not looked at scientific data and discoveries and comparative to what We Believe from the Bible? That would be absurd because we all grew up in the same public School and have learned the same evolutionary story. The second thing is you say there is no evidence. Have you even been to the Middle East? I spent over a year in the Middle East and can tell you firsthand that there is more evidence then you can imagine to support not only the people but the actual locations as described in Scripture. My third thing is what do I have to lose for believing in Christ? According to you when I die I'm just going to cease anyway so what disadvantage is there to believing in Jesus Christ? I live a much better moral life, I am happily married, and I see the value that can be obtained from scripture. Regardless of if you believe you should definitely read proverbs. I've watched a lot of your videos and you often claim there is no evidence for Christianity but the problem is you've never given any evidence to say that it's not.

If this is the case then how does ANYONE know jesus??? Who in the history of humanity has been a “perfect” human being without sin?
@InTruthandinSpirit3 ай бұрын
@@ovirago8314 Jesus was and is PERFECT. He gave his life to make you perfect too. Philippians 3:15-16 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
@daleduncan50803 ай бұрын
So God creates a sinful natured human. God knows that they will sin but threatens to kill him for sin anyway. That makes absolutely no sense. so we strive to be perfect knowing we can never be perfect and will never be like Jesus. So what’s the point? So then why does the Bible talk about an unpardonable sin? It sounds like sins are valued differently. Salvation shouldn’t be so complicated. It’s like a trap and a trick. It’s like dealing with a narcissist. It’s exhausting and futile and in the end you die anyway because you did that one little sin that didn’t affect anyone or nobody saw but sky daddy saw, and he’s going to kill you for it.
@InTruthandinSpirit3 ай бұрын
@@daleduncan5080 hello Dale, I would be happy to answer all of your questions in order. “God knows they will sin but kill them for sin anyway “. You are correct. Even one tiny sin is enough for God to burn you, James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. It gets even more intense when Jesus literally hammers it home by saying , Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. So the Bible just proved to you and I both that we cannot live without ever sinning correct? Now that we’ve established that, let’s see what the Bible says, John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. It also says, 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. So we strive to be perfect which is impossible, you are correct again we cannot do what Jesus did. So the unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost which sadly most Christians don’t understand but you will once I show you and not because it’s what I say but because it’s literally what the Bible says. 1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. So if we continue to sin and we die still in sin then we cannot be forgiven. That means if you do something that you consider sinful and you die before being forgiven then you are going to hell! It would appear we have no way out, if we do even one little sin even if it hurts no one and “sky daddy “ sees then we’re going to hell? Yep! Exactly! But what is sin Dale? 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. So we know that sin is disobeying Gods law. How can we make it if we cannot obey the law? Enter Jesus. Jesus gave his life so we can be forgiven right? But if continue to sin then what? The answer is far more simple than you realize Dale. Colossians 1:20-22 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: So if Jesus fulfilled the law perfectly for us thus forgiving our sins and RECONCILING ALL THINGS unto himself ( look up reconcile definition) how can we say we still sin if we are no longer under law? If we do then we have not believed Gods word! We are no longer under law, it doesn’t mean you should go on a heyday because you can , there are still consequences in this place and we should rather to love one another. Galatians 5:1-4 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Consider this Dale, if you could please God through your works, why did Jesus come and give his life for us? It amazes me that people admit they need Jesus but the don’t believe and continue to try pleasing God through the law that Jesus already fulfilled! Dale, if there isn’t a law against drinking water, how could you break any laws by drinking a glass of water? If Jesus fulfilled the law perfectly how can we break it? If we choose to live under the law and not believe what Jesus did, then we will be judged by that same law and I promise you Dale, apart from Jesus you cannot be perfect. But if you believe that HE did it for you then you are already perfect. You are healed and will be sealed! When God asks you what you did to deserve to have eternal life you can say to Him nothing, I did nothing Father. It was all your Son, he did it. He cleaned me and made me pure like a chaste virgin (that’s a nugget for ya but you gotta dig) . But Dale, most people will stand before Him and say I did this or I did that or I quit this and I didn’t do that, Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Unless you’re perfect Dale you ain’t making it, so let Jesus make you PERFECT and just believe and trust Him! It’s not something we wait for , Philippians 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have ALREADY attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Most cannot believe in the simple truth of the gospel, they return to their own vomit and place themselves back under law and live a viscous circle of sin, repent, repeat. I was once like that, so I understand. I hope you would like to learn more, it’s all in the bible so you don’t need me you only need Jesus. But if you believe, it would be a great joy to introduce you to the other believers. There aren’t many of us, it’s truly a narrow path Dale and the world will hate you for it. Matthew 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. He knocks at the door Dale, will you receive the FREE gift of eternal life? When was the last time you worked for a free gift? Or had to do something in return?!

@@tonymiller3788 Hello! Please read my whole post or posts before trying to poke holes in my position. Otherwise, you may miss important points. It is my humble opinion that only about 20% of people who call themselves Christians really are Christians. So, what does it take to become a Christian? You may have heard the word born-again. There are lots of people who claim to be born-again who are not. To be born-again, there must be an intersection between the human and God. That intersection includes God making our spirits to come alive along with the human trusting God and placing faith in Him. So, walking down an aisle, raising your hand, or praying a prayer is just not enough. It must be that intersection between humans and God. This leads to what is often called easy-believism. This is where many people who are “deconstructing” their faith and leaving Christianity. Timmy says he was a real believer before. Many of you say the same thing. I use God’s word as my guide, of course. John said, “Those who went out from us were not of us.” Jesus will tell some people at the end of time, “Depart from me. For I never knew you.” These two verses tell us about people who thought they were believers at one time, but never were true believers. In my case, I became a Christian in 1979. There was a time afterward that I thought I had lost my salvation and even destined for Hell, if there is one. What I experienced, especially in 1985 when I got my faith in line was the complete forgiveness of my sins. All the guilt that I carried for a long time disappeared. My life changed drastically. First, I found myself wanting to study and memorize the Bible. Second, I had this huge desire to share my faith. Why? Because I wanted people to experience the forgiveness and freedom that I was now walking in. In my personal life, I now had power over sin that I never had before. My strength was not complete. Some call this the sanctification process. I have to work out my faith and rely on God for those weaknesses that remain. Reminder, no longer guilty. How about supernatural experiences? God led me to my wife and her to me. I met my wife at a singles gathering. We said only “Hello” to each other and then I had to leave town for 18 weeks. While gone, God placed my wife’s face in my mine twice. Unknown to me until later, the Lord verbally told my wife at Church, “Joe is the one for you.” You’ll find this humorous. She said to God, “But I don’t even know Joe.” My wife got very sick last year. I prayed for her deeply for weeks along with others. While in prayer, God told me that he was going to bring her home. Of course, I wasn’t happy. I did ask Him to take her soon since she had been battling for quite a while. She passed four days later. My wife relied on prayer much more than me. She had hundreds of prayers answered. Not the one or two out of ten Timmy experienced. I have been in apologetics for decades. First, because I kept challenging the Bible and God. Second, I found it to be reliable and have used my knowledge to encourage thinkers to re-visit their presuppositions. Let me finish with this, look for that intersecting moment with God. If you try to manufacture it yourself, like many of today’s Evangelical Churches do, you will be further disgusted with religion and disappointed. As for the date-setters and other kinds of whack jobs in Christianity, they are a poor reflection on the faith. Typically, they have poor hermeneutics which leads to wrong understandings of scripture. Thus, they go off the deep-end. There are bad people who hide within the faith too.
