I grew up not too far from Chicago. Most of the gangs around when I grew up were either gd or some faction of them. Usually. They were and still are the largest street gang in the area. The reason for that (from my 18 years of experience - we'll say from 12yr old to now 30) is bc they recruit anyone willing to join. Other gangs tend to be more selective, or actually recruit (usually kids) they think would be good criminals. Gd is the most unorganized-organized crime organization I've ever seen.
