GD started off as Supreme Gents, then Supreme Gangster, Larry and Ike Taylor joined the Disciples and became the Black Gangster Disciples. Later around 80 or 81 larry broke off from BGD, and formed GD/Growth and Development. The concept was to invite other ethnic groups which is why he dropped Black from his faction. Gangster became a thing late 80s early 90s, which is why it became known as Gangster Disciple. This is a short version of GD.

@juniebugg yeah I grew up like 3 miles west from where the gang originated..And then and the Latin Kings were the two biggest gangs and they literally killed each other for sport . All this positive dad stuff wasn't happening
@keeptellin5623 Жыл бұрын
Exactly they did that in the 70s and 80s when the gang meant something else now it's just destruction on the black community like most gangs nowadays. Growth and development is a joke🤣🤣 I knew some GDs growing up they were clowns terrorizing the neighborhood not one thing positive came out of them. They were off brand GDs outta town I'm not from Chicago or the midwest🤣

But I can’t do shit but keep working and taking care of my son.

@@WhoCaresMyGuyyou both speaking facts. Also political divisions have been amplified divisions, while tolerance and respect for others rights has diminished in some respects which has led to loss in friendships. People used to try harder to be friends. I also feel sad that all the racial bating by the media has divided us. It makes me sad. In my neighborhood we was poor but we were a community. It makes it hard to make friends and I miss having black friends all of them either passed, moved or we lost touch. We men need to stick together and support each other because like you said it’s make or break.

The principles of these guys are to that of some the earliest crip gangs. Essentially starts out as a positive thing, and then a criminal element is introduced to it. Just like the OG said. Also, having that OG there probably really helps to keep the mission focused. I think it's beautiful that gangs like this are still out there.

@@TruthSerum99-zq9fi I was implying that they have a good mentality as gang members (that most don’t especially young members). It’s kinda reminiscent to how Nipsey Hussle was with the Rollin 60s Crips, there are ones who work a certain way away from that negative connotation of being “purely criminal” to being honest, good hearted intelligent people who just want to help keep their community positive,alive and well. These dudes on a whole another level. It's refreshing to see a group of men like this acting grown and standing on true values. When I was coming up and used to bang I thought the best respect I could earn was through fear and that got me nowhere. Yeah, I was respected in my hood but for the wrong reasons. Sooner or later, all that fell apart and I realized to be a real man is to stand on your own two feet and support your family just like these men were speaking on. Now being older, the small crew that I run with are a lot like these guys. We don't like the word gang. We much rather prefer brotherhood. And being a man in my mid 40s and running with a crew of my brothers, I've also learned that the most important respect is earned through love rather than fear. I think this was my favorite video on this channel so far.
