That's kinda the point of prison. If someone leaves a prison after their sentence is up, and returns to crime, the prison failed them.

If they still offer the tours and you are in San Francisco I definitely recommend going to Alcatraz. I really enjoyed the tour. It’s self guided and you are giving a audio device to hear a narrator giving the you low down on what you are looking at. It’s a really good experience. 👍

I remember visiting Alcatraz a couple of years ago and meeting former inmate Bill Baker there. He was talking about his experience and promoting the book he wrote. It was very interesting listening to him as an old man and trying to imagine the different version of himelf he was portraying in his account.

I got to visit Alcatraz in the 70s. It felt surreal. Capone, the birdman, machine gun Kelly. That two hour tour was plenty of time on the Rock to keep me on the straight & narrow. Ha!

I left home years ago and when I went back it was scary. Then the unknown about who was still alive. Things really changed. I would be scared going back to prison. All the memories and smells would be to much.
