Apart from both the USA and Denmark being allies through NATO, the two countries have had two bilateral defence agreements since the early 1950s, one specific to Greenland. Also worth mentioning is Greenland National Park, a protected nature reserve that covers the north and east, some 972.000 square kilometres, or almost 45% of the entire island. All natural resources of Greenland have been under direct local jurisdiction since 2010, and strict environmental regulations have been enacted by Greenland's parliament, to which any extraction would have to conform.

Great interview, thank you. The latest opinion pole in Greenland shows a 78% majority of voters in favor of continuing being a member of the Kingdom of Denmark, as it has since 1380. The Greenlanders love the cushy welfare state with free healthcare, education and social benefits, provided by the extremely wealthy Danes. It's a non-burger and the EU would - by legislation- never let the U.S. assert military or economic (tariffs) pressure on any member of the EU. A tariff on Danish goods (huge quantities of pharmaceuticals, farm products etc.) would be a tariff on all similar EU goods.

Nothing is free, high taxes pay for it all turning Danish citizens into indentured servants. If Denmark is so rich why can't they defend themselves? I hope the USA leaves NATO so American citizens can stop paying for Europe's protection.
