Jake is a night owl and has been awhile. I remember an interview of him talking about doing guitar tracks for Ultimate Sin in the studio in the early morning hours. It's just how he likes to work.

Diary of a Madman is considered by many to be the best album that oZzy ever sang on, everyone involved with that album said Randy's writing was night and day from the Blizzard album and he had advanced a lot. Jake did an interview on Tone Talk and he talked about how no one has ever done the classical and rock thing as well as Randy and Randy's advanced compositional skills are second to none.
