Listening to Graeme Philson recall his time at WH, not being disrespectful, but from the outside of the inner circle looking in, was far more interesting than a lot of the established players recalling their memories. He is such a down to earth chap, an obvious family man, with his head screwed on when he gave his advice to youngsters in the game and his regrets. But he had the opportunity the majority of us can only dream of. Well done Chris for getting this interview, and well done Gary getting Chris to join you on this channel.

Thanks Bill, that's very nice of you. I also like hearing stories from past players, but not necessarily the obvious ones as we know so many of those stories already.

Hi Chris what a great interview. You must do more of these. This was certainly different to anything I have watched on any other West Ham channel. Gary's stories brought back some great memories. You have set a high bar.

The way the fans treated young Frank was similar to the tratment that Jim Barrett Jr son of big Jim recieved. He always played much better away from home. Jim eventually came back to the club and was one of the coaches involved when we won the FA cup in 1964. I as a young fan wrote to him thinking it was wrong to treat him this way, He replied to my letter saying yes the fans can make or break you.

Top stuff, can we get more of the youth lads involved love to hear from Lee Hodges and Izzy Irekipen this lads that looked like Top prospects but didn't quite make it with us but went onto have a success at other clubs of lower leagues. Graham Carrick would be a Top interview as well always thought he was gonna make it but didn't. Cheers guys

Exactly our thoughts Rex, also they will remember the smallest details that perhaps the seasoned pros have forgotten. I really love these stories, kinda gives you an impression of what it would be like if your dream come true and you ended up signing for West Ham.

Really enjoyed that, in two hits, great video, really interesting and well presented. I didn't remember him so that made it all the more fascinating to hear what goes on behind the scenes for these players we sort of just take a punt on. Shame he didn't get more game time with us as came across as a really decent bloke.

Most players have come in for stick , we've never been shy to let players know when they're having a bad game. But Lampard really didn't deserve it, to some it didn't matter how many assists or goals he scored and he hit some real bangers even when he first came into the first team, but there was a bunch who always got on his case no matter what. No superstars, i remember Marc keller refusing to sign anything, apparently after he saw some pics he'd signed being sold outside the ground, lol , ..i love these stories, 👍 I'll always have a rose tinted memory of boleyn era, Watching players training ( until the Hartson Berkovic incident) & everything i mean the good,bad and ugly re, players games etc , everything seemed better before we moved to the LS . ⚒

Tougher these days for homegrown lads to make it within the top leagues with the worldwide scouting systems. Shame really, prefer the old days where many of the players were from the locale.
@ChrisTBMSАй бұрын
Can't beat it when a local lad, or homegrown player comes through the system and makes it to the first team!
