Exactly the same situation I was in, my mum had a different alcoholic boyfriend every couple of months who was always violent towards us all, I had no bank account, no passport, nothing, saw a guy recruiting in town and walked up and said I want to join the army, few weeks later I was on my two day selection then I was in training not long after, I felt like I actually belonged there and and they gave me a purpose and looked after me. I’ll be forever grateful to the armed forces for what they did for me, I’m now married, have kids and a decent job and house.

Can’t do that now ! it’s like a 2 year process to get in the army 😂
@JM1919MJ10 күн бұрын
@@bardshitler3328 yeah my nephew tried to get in not so long ago and he couldn’t join because he had a very small black tattoo of a lion on his neck, I’ve heard it’s changed a lot since I was in, they’re turning blokes away who would make good soldiers for stupid reasons. Edit: crazy how there’s a two year wait and they wonder why they can’t recruit enough blokes.

What an inspiration Pasha is, from marginalised to an Elite operator. My step dad was RSM at Marchwood, I'm pretty sure he took Marines to Norway for artic training on RFA ships.
@JammyDodger45Ай бұрын
Yep he will have supervised us loading/unloading our vehicles pre and post exercise deployment. Marchwood was always one of those places you expected to be a real pain but it turned out to be generally ok. Busy as feck but a pretty smooth evolution which had the bonus of a night out in Southampton after we'd finished loading.

Hi phil as whiteman you have the privilege to choose if you see colour or not and been or asian not a thing that a person should be made to feel ashamed of in the first place i get you ( when rounds are flying race matters not) but its an issue made by adults the difference is today we have socmed this has aided people of colour to clap back and do so very hard and this is something some folks can't handle well get used to or get over it i say 😂 sounds like something a white civiii told me and been called the N word lol anyway love ya stuff keep it up funny as fuk

Unfortunately the club got burned down and it hasn’t been back up as yet. Hopefully you decide to come back to Belize for a vacation and take a walk down memory lane. Best wishes Enrique ( Raul’s grandson)

I relate to the early part of this story. I left home due to a physically abusive father. Joined the Royal Hampshire Regiment. And as you’ve both said, the beatings stop. The army give me a lot in terms of self-respect, standing up for myself. I joined mortars - Z Coy - after 18 months. Great time but weird lads 😊. Manpacking. Also Fermanagh 1982 COP. Did 28 days SUS ‘soldier on’ in 87. Totally relate to beasting bloody RPs, us carrying wombat round. They still couldn’t keep up. That said, I’d helped the then Provo cpl, a Welsh boxer, during the physical part of COP selection training. In 1987 he was Provo Sgt. He was really cool with me.

It's a sad fact that some of the best soldiers are from harsh broken homes. These guys stay in as others fall away because they don't want to go back to their dysfunctional /violent homes. Getting that uniform, the ID card with your name on it meant you were claimed, wanted, needed.... Belonged somewhere. Later excelling at learning your skills instilled pride, grew ambition. It's probably the best way to get ahead in life from a start you have no control over.

Thank you for having this Channel Phil. The American Sean Ryan was my go to for Operator interviews for the longest time… but sadly, he’s now supporting Donald Trump and JD Vance (had them on the show) and he’s completely ruined his legacy and future and audience who were independents. Thank god British operators are non political when it comes to work. Love hearing an interview that doesn’t have some underlying Right Wing Maga push. Breath of fresh air. Sincerely a Brit living in USA (for context)
