Scott Mitchell is a great man! I moved to Utah in 1978, and ever since, he and I have been close friends. He is the real deal. There are 6 of us who grew up together that are still very close. 3 are blue and 3 are red. I am one of the blue guys. I remember, when later in life, after Scott moved back to Springville, he was called to be in a BYU ward bishopric. He showed me his BYU ID card and he never looked better! 😅

Man! I kinda liked Scott before this interview, but now he's right up there with the great examples for players, fans and coaches. Thanks Scott!

I thought this was great to have Scott on your show. Hearing his story (and all the details behind it) was worthwhile to me. As sports fans, it is easy to look at these players and see them kind of like video game characters or pieces on a chessboard. We want them to play amazingly on every play, execute their assignment, fill their gaps, and win every game, etc. These kinds of conversations (along with DeepBlue) have really helped me see what goes on behind the scenes. Every person is a unique combination of successes and failures, highs and lows, triumphs and tragedies, and everything in between. Thank you for putting these conversations out there.

Great back story on how Scott became a Ute. Glad he shared that. I will look at him differently now.

Played for Coach Mitchell at Springville high, him and Ed Larson are top notch individuals. Not a drop of D1 talent in my body still had great experiences.

I knew Scott in high school also especially when Springville came to Spanish Fork and I played against him. Yes! We took a beating in that game.

I watched Scott's first game when he played in Miami. I think Dan Marino got hut.His first professional pass was an interception. He then tore it up the rest of the game.
