Just make sure that whatever the width of the pleats (be it knife or box), the measurements are added into the pattern once the fit has been established. It hard to explain in words. Thank also for your kind comments.

Thank you for the informative video? What about inverted pleats in the side seams of the dress? Like the late 1960s style? I have pattern instructions but the pleats on the dress are sewn a little differently than what you've shown here because they are in the side seams. Any advice?

Hi. I think your tutorials are the best. I do need some help though. I usually draft my own patterns, but I am having difficult drafting a pattern for a skirt that has a box pleat in the middle of the garment and two knife pleats at both sides of the box pleat. Can you assist? Thanks.

If your jacket has a center back seam then the process of creating an inverted pleat is exactly the same. Use the seam as the center point.

From what you tell me, the problem seems to be at the initial drafting stage. It's hard to describe, but are you allowing for body shape. Go back to the drafting, make a toile / muslin and that should better indicate where the problem is.

Hi, can you kindly advise. I sew an A line skirt with inverted pleat. Looks good on hanger; however when worn the back rides up; I hate that (lol). Apparently the front was 1cm longer than the back & I adjusted that; it has improved but not perfect; the back still rides. I know notice the side seam is not straight to the floor; it leans to the back. The material is wool; I wonder maybe the material is heavy so the inverted pleat area nose-dives. I draw my own blocks.What am i doing wrong?Thanks
