I usually agree with his opinion, but when it came to this song. This song, proved BLACKPINK was on a path of their own. This song is the reason why BLACKPINK was the recipe for the future GGs. DDU-DU DDU-DU does have that Whistle vibe, which explains why Korea loved the song, but the song also has the hype like BOOMBAYAH, which international fans love. 2018 for sure was one of the biggest years for kpop.

I absolutely love the music video but something about the song just didn’t sit right with me. It had me switching between “I really like this” and “this isn’t for me.” To be completely honest I was a bit underwhelmed with the song just because I couldn’t settle into a groove. That being said this is was one of the prettiest and fiercest music videos I’ve seen. I think the music video was able to shine more than the actual music. But that is just my opinion. I really don’t have anything against BlackPink but I just didn’t completely vibe with the song.

TBH, I listened to it initially & was SUPER impressed. But then, I felt like it the more you listen to it, the less...."impactful" it sounds? Maybe it's because of #1) the first listen is basically the re-introduction of BP after their almost year-long hiatus, 2) it starts out with a booming entrance & sound, and 3) it's Blackpink & their image is blunt/in-your-face. Teddy's music signature is to be unpredictable. That is why if you can notice, all of Blackpink's songs that are composed by Teddy is like an amalgamation of different genres, even that random guitar accompaniment that just pops out of the blue. It's like two or three different songs mashed into one. I think that the end part wherein the end is "abrupt" is similar to the style of Playing with Fire--after the dance break, it just ends. And I think that is a good trait of theirs since this is very rare in K-Pop industry. Almost 98 percent of the songs ends with lyrics while theirs doesn't.

I think you pretty much nailed it. The rap verses slay, the pre-chorus is weak, the chorus is a grower, the bridge is strong, and the song shouldn't have ended after the dance break. I fall into the camp of absolutely adoring As if it's Your Last and not caring for Boombayah, although I love Whistle. This is a 7-7.5 for me after several listens.

This beats whistle for me. It’s my favorite song, the tempo and the flow feels fluid. This is what I love about these girls, they are just versatile with their music. I gave this a 9 while all the other songs are at a 8

I lowkey feel BLACKPINK just even knowing their individual music styles thought/wrote/sang better songs. But YG picked these songs as they sounded most YG. Having teddy produce everything is making things sound repetitive. I honestly still think Playing with Fire is there best song as it seemed forward looking and was a good piece all and all. Teddy did Sunmi Gashina and Heroine. He CAN do other sounds so I don’t see why he doesn’t experiment. I wish YG wasn’t so annoying and like SM was open to using other international producers just to really see what Blackpink can do. Also a whole year and FOUR songs, iKON got 14-16 on most recent one and 17 on there debut. HOW do they only have 4 - to be that says aloottt about YG handling of Girlgrouos

most of their songs are pretty strong but lyric-wise i like this one the most? idk but i just like kpop songs where idols call out the media for their flaws lmao i just hope that they're not gonna do a drive-by if they wanna hit them with that "ddu-du ddu-du" 💀💀 i can't be the only one who thought that the ddu-du ddu-du was supposed to represent the sound of the lightstick when you hit it against something

Honestly the rap and the chorus is dope..but I didn't like the song much. I mean I am not hating on them but it seems they sort of combined different elements (like the Vocal after Lisa's rap) and Idk it didn't work out for me. I would definitely watch the MV but not listen to the song as in the audio

same! and i thought i was the only one thinking like that. the choreo too is a little bit underwhelming for me... i just felt like they could do better. its a comeback we were waiting for but definitely it couldve be better. four songs in the album and i was anticipating a slower song like STAY and yet we got 4 pop dance songs... i mean, i like it but i wouldve loved it better if the album was more diverse in genre, at least include a ballad where their vocals realllyyy show

Great observations and thoughts. I love this song. Listened to it and watched it dozens of times. For me it is one of their biggest songs. When I first heard it, I did think it was all over the place. But after a while I thought it was one of their best songs and videos. You're left wanting more, but I suppose that is what they want you to feel.
