I would like to protest the “Jin is not as good a singer” trope. Certainly that may once have been the case, but now it’s clear that (as with all the other members) there are vocal areas where he actually pulls ahead of the others. His tone has really developed, and it is extremely strong and stable, as evidenced by his live performances where he is consistently one of the most stable (and has consistently well-supported tone). His tone is very clear and warm, and it’s a great color to add to the group. Further, his range itself has expanded tremendously. All of the members have their strengths and weaknesses (I won’t go into the weaknesses because of stans), and it’s no longer justifiable to single out Jin.
@kpoplover19015 жыл бұрын
I really agree with this. The fact that he used to get so few lines to now being a stable powerhouse in concert (Epiphany was a wild ride, I also love Awake) often makes me wish people would notice him more. Not only the fact that he has improved so much overall like he's wanted for a long time, but that he is a wonderful addition as a vocalist. He is definitely someone you'd want in your group for that.

The screams in Dionysus were Jin, and it wasn't artificially high-pitched like you seemed to think? One of the producers just asked him to scream and he... did... How shook would nonfans be if I told them that Dionysus was more like BTS than the other songs in the album? Poor souls think they're a simple "pop group". Also, I think J-Hope might be my bias wrecker. I always thought he was an amazing rapper. For bias wrecker, it was a toss-up between him and Suga. Suga's rap is very emotional and he is sort of an inspiration to me since I also struggle with anxiety. However, I've always had a thing for versatility and performance and J-Hope is all of that. I think Persona intro feels longer cos it doesn’t have a hook. Mikrokosmos feels like a coming of age anime ost. To add to how Jin has grown into his own style in the group, it’s also the Han when he sings that moves people. And JHope is called by the members as the golden hyung. Idk why people don't use the term much. He’s the lead dancer, rapper, and can sing. Just watch his Mama performance where he adlibs his vocal abilities. I mean his Mama song not the award show.

Now to preface this I am a Jin bias, with Jhope as my main wrecker (but honestly after this album, i think he just may be a dual bias with Jin). In my opinion J-Hope's rapping is the best at portraying emotion, not to say Yoongi and Namjoon cannot, they can, and very well. But I think each rapline member has a thing they do very well and Hobi is just very good at making you feel what he wants you to feel. (I also agree with you PD on Namjoon gets the longest rap, followed by Yoongi And then Hobi). The best examples I can think of is Jamais Vu and Tear. Jamais Vu makes me feel melancholy and sad though j hope. Tear during Jhopes rap is so intense and in one word FEAR. It is the shortest rap but it has soooooo much power and emotion behind it and honestly its the song that made me look at Hobi in a new light other than rapper, because beforehand my favorite rapper was Yoongi. I think Jin, Hobi, and Jimin shined the most in this album. All the members were fantastic, but those three had me doing doubletakes ALOT. Also my top tracks (not including title and intro) 1. Jamais Vu 2. Dionysus 3. MikroKosmos 4. HOME 5. Make it Right (Noting the first three are honestly really even for me. It came down to nitpicking to really give them an order. "he was born to be on stage...his destiny was to always become a star" YES when i saw hobi perform live in london, i was so blown away honestly it left such a HUGE impact and impression on me the entire night and even now when i think back to it, i get goosebumps cause honestly you have to be there to see him live to understand the magic. like ive always known hobi is a spectacular performer but wow to see him live on stage like that, GOOSEBUMPS. he was one with the stage, moving so fluidly and confidently and he just shined so so much. honestly, after the entire concert and seeing the members (and trust me, they were amazing too), the biggest highlight of my night was hobi. he stole the show for me, just absolutely j-flawless. also let me just say, i always thought hobi is good looking but BOY HIS LOOKS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD IN REAL LIFE he's soooo handsome

I agree, BTS have very interesting members in terms of being vocalists and rappers. They all have their own sounds and styles of singing and rapping, they don't try to outshine each other. They complement each other so well. When they make music it is figuratively like taking a meal, you have all these different flavors and ingredients that are tasty on their own but together the blends of flavors come together to make something so MOUTH-WARTERINGLY delicious. And when they make an album GOSH IT'S LIKE A BUFFET, they would have at least one song that you're craving and the way each of them is made will make you want to have seconds. And I also am with you on that BTS and BigHit have definitely developed. In this album they really made use of the member's specialties and at the same time giving them room to experiment. I can hear it in the vocalists for every songs (the are really out there giving Jin the parts that are best for him), how they have RM's lit verses in the Intro, Suga's diverse flows, how Jhope shined so much in this album.

my friend’s theory re: boy with luv MV is that halsey was featured less bc the boys would have to perform the track on korean music shows and likely wouldn’t be able to have halsey on stage with them for show champion etc.

joonmoonssi lots of people have said that, but then they could have had the video version for the shows and the studio version for the video, it would have made more sense to have her more in the video since she flew out there and have the version she sings the most in.

Hobi had a huge part in this albums production. I'm so proud of him. After his mixtape he's really stepped up and put his voice into helping make the album. I love how they are all blossoming into song writers and producers.
@natashai.45305 жыл бұрын
He has actually been doing that since the very beginning 💜 the rap line (including Jung hoseok) have contributed and participated for for every discography of BTS album since their debut time. For their wings album j-hope and suga co-produced same # of songs. The original satori rap by the rap line was written and produced by all three of them and this is pre BTS debut. Hobi was the only one to debut as a ft. Rapper for a well known kpop idol Jo kwon's (2AM leader)solo Animal song ft. Jung hoseok as a rapper in 2012 and he also wrote his own verse for that, this was a HUGE thing for an agency to value their artist's skill and talent to that extent to let him do that predebut BTS. J-hope has been accredited for 82 songs under his name which is around same as suga and RM has been acrredited for 100+ songs. RM usually talks about on his vlive about how hardworking and talented J-hope is and all his contributions for all the albums and song tracks and how he is also a genius at creating and making catchy beats and writing verses which end up becoming the main hook of the song that people subconsciously love the most without even knowing that it was J-hope who made it. RM has also credited J-hope for the success of the song mic drop because it was J-hope who wrote and composed most of that including jk's verse that most people liked, same thing with Jin's solo Awake. The rapline usually write their own verse for every song. it's true that in this album RM co-produced all 7 songs, J-hope 6 and Suga 5. And the members spoke about his huge part and contribution in this album but suga did the same with Hobi during wings and RM usually talks more in detail during his vlives introducing every album. Hoseok just never talks about his contributions himself unless someone else mentions it first so most of us are unaware until we see in lists of credits on every album. I do agree that his mistake hopeworld really helped by showcasing his talent and own style to the world and grow even more as an artist. They all have been growing and getting better with each growing experience 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🤗

You don't know how f**king happy you made me when you said that even though BTS isn't your favourite group, their vocals are the most interesting. Ultimately a lot of people have been saying that BTS's vocal line is mediocre and that isn't true at all. They are such good singers and their diversity in tones, pitch, colours, makes them the most interesting vocal line for me. They can sing anything and make it sound interesting 💜

rapping/singing isn't everything. That boy can move, his dancing skills are top-notch to the point he doesn't have to think about choreo, he has that "muscle memory" he's dancing without much thinking, that gives him freedom to perform, have you seen his facial expressions while dancing? Others may look like very focused, but not him. And last but not least, he's very confident on stage. Imo as a performer he was always ahead of other members, BigHit acknowledged his performance skills, after all he was the only trainee member who performed live as a featuring artist a whole year before BTS debut- June 2012 Jo Kwon "Animal" (feat.Jung Hoseok) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqGVoGeVbb-Jp6s (btw even back then he was already working on writing lyrics, he wrote his verses in that song, as a real rapper should, from the start he took his role as a rapper very seriously). I wish people stop discrediting him as a writer too, he worked way too hard to be treated like that. 85 writing/composing credits at KOMCA says it all.... Edit: another Animal live performance haha kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3_NZ2qqa56Hd8k

@@uvayakone9281 Yeah he worked so hard and the fact that he didn't know how to rap at first is just so amazing that he has to practice rapping because he didn't know how to practice more because he was still a trainee before and right lyrics that's what you call TRUE HARD WORK.

I really love your listening parties - I always look forward to them. Mostly because I feel we have almost always the same opinion on things. The same this time, apart from a few instances: Jin's vocals and J-Hope's rapping parts. I feel that Jin has made the most noticable evolution with his technique. Hearing him live I feel he has one of the most stable voices right now. On J-Hope, I agree with him staying on the low often, but he obviously effing SLAYED his part in Outro:Tear. After I heard him there he catapulted himself straight to my personal top. For the rest of the album I totally agree with you, very experimetal and it took me a few listens to really warm up to it. Jamais Vu though went straight to my heart from the very start - what a phenominal trio indeed. And Dionysus 😂 - my initial reaction was your exact face and the exact same words WTF. I thought I was listening to an anime opening. Actually my mum was visiting when the album dropped and was present when I listened to Dionysus. Which was her very first BTS song ever 😂 Suffice to say she was a little overwhelmed. But after a few times it just got stuck in my head and wouldn't leave and now I really enjoy it. It just works. Anyway, thank you for the review, I really appreciate your taste in music and opinion on things, I feel I always learn sth new. Keep up the good work 👍

As a tribute/love letter to ARMY. I feel like this album has something for everyone. The tracks are all so different that at times it might feel disconnected and yet, the messages in the song lyrics are the same. And yes, it's a very experimental album in terms of production and sound but I also think that what makes it great. And again it really does feel like this album has a bit of everything for all the different fans of the group. You have new sounds, old school sounds, western sounds, indie sounds that people who have been with BTS for a while can appreciate. I think this is one of my favorite mini albums as well and cant wait to see what's next.

Jin has actually become a very good vocalist in the group. A strong one at that. He has developed his raw talent! Personally, BTS are my favourite group. There are others that perhaps all in all have greater voices BUT somehow every BTS member have managed to use their unique colour and compliment the group perfectly! AND... JHOPE is definitely born to be on stage. When I watched him perform Dionysus...geez I felt like I was kicked in the face. Such stage presence! 😱
