To be honest, Suga just wanted to produce a song for PSY so he contacted him. He very rarely works with artists that he collaborates with in person, usually everything is done via mails or chats. But PSY wanted to meet Suga and do it together so they did. Then PSY convinced Suga to do a feature with him in this song. Then PSY taught Suga a choreo for the song and thus he tricked Suga into starring in the MV 😂 They talk about it in the behind the scenes video and interview, it’s pretty hilarious

Ofc Yoongi wouldn’t want to do something he really doesn’t want to, he has enough experience in the industry and as an adult to choose what he wants/doesn’t want to do. It’s just all in good fun :)

Suga does seem more at ease. Happier is one way of putting it. You can certainly feel he is enjoying himself here. This is why when some said they miss the way he was (and the BTS rap line were) in his music, I always have to remind myself that such rawness can only be fuelled by an all consuming angst which can destroy a person if not balanced with a more peaceful state of existence. Since these guys are authentic musicians, their state of mind surely will always be in line with the music they create.

Oh my god yes I completely agree!!! There’s a place for that sort of raw anger against the world and there’s a place for the happiness and peace after it. Basically you’re right that while rap line definitely had very emotional music with hard-hitting, necessary messages, that sort of mental state isn’t sustainable or healthy. Suga writing this song made me so happy because I felt like he could also let himself be happy, he let go of the anger and he’s doing well.

Fun facts: the mv setting is the same as Permission to Dance and PSY said that after working with Yoongi a lot of his new album tracks followed naturally. It was inspirational and he got a lot of his energy so it didn't show their age gap that much :)

Aw man! So glad you reacted! It was SUGA doing the jump. There are two different behind the scenes footage. One on PSY's channel, and the other on BANGTANTV channel. You should watch the full interview on PSY's channel. SUGA was only supposed to produce and it was PSY who methodically convinced him to rap and be in the video. Armys equated it to Bang PD tricking Yoongi to join BTS by telling him he would not have to dance. PSY woke up Agust D.

Welcome back PD. This music video made me grin from ear to ear all the way through and every time I watch it again. I have a new found respect for PSY. He really said things that needed to be said. In such a fun way. Underneath all the seemingly opposite in styles between PSY and SUGA I feel there is a strong common thread: Fiercely honest, authentic, and unapologetically themselves. It is a pity that Suga’s rap was incorrectly translated from what I heard from Korean speakers. There is a behind the scene video that you might find interesting. Together with some interviews of both PSY and SUGA. In the behind the scene video it shows SUGA jumping from a height that isn’t actually as high as it feels in the MV. Based on PSY’s interview it seems that he prefer to put Gangnam Style behind him. He said the song was more famous than the artist so much so that people thought Gangnam Style was his name, and how to him, this is an “unhealthy” fame he doesn’t prefer.

They did a tiktok video of choreography, PSY and SUGA, and it's glorious 😍 Behind the scenes for the MV is also really interesting, and that jump only looked like it was from really high. It wasn't. I think that was a fan assumed thing because RM was in the MV for Tiger JK. Ignition have just been something that wasn’t appropriate or didn’t make sense timing wise etc but for this Psy really worked middle aged Korean man getting Suga to dance magic. I assume he took lessons from Bang Pd.

i honestly did not see this collaboration happening... and for suga himself to have reached out to psy because made beat that he thought psy would like... you should watch their interview and behind filming. yes, you saw that right, suga did have a blast working with psy. he'd been tricked into it tho, because he actually thought that he'd only be producing the song for psy but then one thing led to another and That That turned into this amazing and fun song that made me smile and feel good :)

I missed your posts and glad to see you back. I hope things get easier for you and you are settled. This song was something I couldn’t imagine how it could work yet they created something unexpected and amazing. They synergy and you can feel they are now self proclaimed best friends. Suga’s inner comedic genius came out in full in the behind the scenes and Psy is always a full on goofball but with intention. Adore this so much. Agree that they said yes they aren’t saying it’s pandemic but it’s a song to get our minds ready to emerge. The live with Psy and a HUGE university crowd of thousands, losing their minds to this song jumping in sync is the most hype fun thing I’ve seen in years. Suga is not just a genius but his sheer confidence to cold call Psy “hey I wrote a song that fits you let’s work on it together”. As a Yoongi bias I am not ok, full on dead. Also for Psy level silly keep in mind Suga was the one who pushed JHope to co-make and perform the Sope song Otsukare, which is easily Psy level. Also for the video production I believe they used the company BTS uses, Lumpens (who also filmed Daechwita).

I liked that (that) you and steezy also talked about the camera work in this MV. When psy is performing the first half, the camerawork including the long takes is fixed, steady, and controlled (idk how else to describe it) but the moment yoongi appears for his feature the camerawork becomes more lively and moves with the amplified energy including the choreo. I'm so happy psy is back with such a good party anthem.

Welcome back, it's nice to see your face again. I feel like when SUGA is paired with the right personality, he can feel comfortable enough to get loose and carefree, and very silly. PSY is just that personality. J-HOPE also has that effect on him as can be seen from all of their SOPE stages.. SUGA really is living his best life. Remember that he had that shoulder surgery at the end of 2020 to correct an injury he had sustained very early on in his career. I believe, and this is just a theory, but he's no longer in pain, and it shows in his performances.
