@Shane Cateriny Frame sections that I measured and cut to fit that I was super anal retentive about measuring before cutting. At one point I was so happy with the way a piece fit where Casey had indicated it needed to fit that I let out a loud "F(expletive) yeah!" that brought Casey into the garage from the front office to see what the noise was about. It gave the Genius Garage guys a good chuckle.

12:40 tube going into top of bracket instead of middle: Perhaps a gusset plate welded between the tube and the bracket would help spread that load, and reduce the concentrated load in the corner of the tube/bracket weld.

For what it's worth we've always had to run a minimum of 10qts of oil in the dry sump system for our Busa cars road racing. Best guess from our engine guys being aerated oil has time to settle before going back to the motor.

That's a really long chain, with long, unsupported runs, with a relatively heavy car (compared to a Hayabuysa) accelerating and decelerating relative to the engine. Might it be a reasonable idea to put some spring-loaded tensioners on the upper and lower chain runs, to help reduce lash?
@DrsharpRothstein3 жыл бұрын
And possibly a chain guide.

That Hayabusa is going to rev way way up - this car will have a lot of high end torque. Can’t wait to hear what it sounds like when you really wind it out. Good thing you have the engineered limited slip diff for the rear end.

Manual gearboxes clearly make driving more complex but it doesn’t mean you can keep up with a fast driver if you have an automatic (sequential, dct or something else) paddle shift for fast and easy gear changes, I mean there is still a lot to learn even if you changing gears is easy.

Excellent build! I love the builds that you do prototype fabrication on! In the video where you say you are struggling with the placement of the upper frame-rail. What if you put a gusset from the upper rail to the lower end of the mounting flange? Would that spread the load on the 2 points more evenly?

Casey, I was just wondering if the Formula 1 Car BUILD is being built with the ability to be able to be driven on the Road, have you already thought of what type of Lights you will end up using or how you will eventually attach/incorporate them to the Formula 1 Car BUILD, while still having the Lights still look like they belong on the Formula 1 Car BUILD at all? Also i am really dying to see new content on your new 1985 Lotus Esprit, i have always loved the design of this model Lotus Esprit...

I was just thinking you could put a monoshock underneath for rigidity between the body and cage. That could solve the issues with the cables between your transmission and body. Just an idea being thrown out there....
@dascooter82873 жыл бұрын
Just really seems like it would have been soo much easier to actually mount it longitudinally and then use a small drive shaft like a Legend or Thunder Roadster.

Frame? We cannot use the magic "F1" and the word "frame" in the same sentence, F1 means "monocoque" with the "backend" the "stressed member" (engine/transmission). Tilt a 1.5L Honda civic engine 23 degrees, bolt it to the tub, turbocharge the doghsh!t out of it, mate it to a sequential transmission, fasten your suspension to that and you're in business.
@bartomiejczerwinski58973 жыл бұрын
Why name it "Formula 1" when there is now no Formula 1 parts in it, nor it will ever have it? It's an Indycar hot rod, still cool, but not the same. Just like a Lambo unibody mated with a crate Chevy V8 racing engine will not become a Ferrari, even if it looks very similar and is comparably fast.
