Dang GPL is still going strong.. I can really appreciate these, living in NZ, we still get to see F5000s driven in anger, whilst the tracks have changed a bit from the fast flowing old school tracks,they're still hugely impressive to see, hear and feel as they thunder around a race track.

I love the head movement from the outside (it was so amazing watching replays with it for the first time, seeing the drivers transformed from wooden props glued to the cars into real humans), but I think adding more movement to the internal camera makes it a bit overdone (especially the spring on the end of a spring type effect) - personally the original movement looks perfect to me, maybe the extra front-back movement is good though.

James Garner also co-owned (or sponsored) the American International Racing Corvette team in 1968. They qualified 1-2 in the GT class at Daytona, but didn't finish. They were prepared for Sebring, but a conflict in management resulted in the team running Lola T70 coupes for the rest of the season. I did a little research and couldn't figure out why.

The mind still boggles that mods for Grand Prix Legends are still keeping this sim fresh. Head Movement gives a certain dynamicism (if that's a word) to the event. The liveries of the various cars were worth having a look at - did anyone else notice that some cars had Firestone decals yet were running on Goodyear tyres, and vice versa?

Jake, could you please make a video where you drive a few hot laps around the Nürburgring Südschleife (‘67 version) in Asetto Corsa in a 1960s Porsche 911 or a F2 car? Would love to see some proper laps around that track.

@@GPLaps Yes, I saw your Formula Junior video, but that uses a different version of the Südschleife for Asetto Corsa, which is less accurate in terms of the track layout than the ‘67 version (the one that also comes as part of the ‘Gesamtstrecke’ combined circuit). I’d love to see some proper hot lapping around the ‘67 version, which is definitely the closest to the real thing.

I can never catch slides with head movement. I've a perfect (nearly) sense of the back end when my head is locked forwards, but with movement I've no idea where the car is.
@GPLaps3 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem if i use the glance settings. For the movement I have it set to 40% Intensity, and then Glance is 10% with speed at 25%. Overall I find the geforce simulation actually helps, the glance by default spoils it though.
@stefankoopmans22003 жыл бұрын
Yeah reminds me of the days I played LFS, I also needed a locked view (also with an extremely high fov, probably because I was Quake minded, played that with fov 120+ in the 90's). Years have passed and now I can't stand locked view, it's boring, I need the head-movement to tell me what the car is doing... weird right? (I use iRacing's default settings and RealHeadMotion for Assetto Corsa, AND correctly measured FOV on tripples). Btw I won't ever use any glance settings, that's just gives a very awkward feeling. It's better to use something like TrackIR on a single screen because you are in direct control of your viewing angle it won't feel so disconnected.

I think gpl made a, huge mistake by focusing on the 67 cars. If they had the same tracks but used the 65 cars a default amd had the 67 as an expansion more people might have been able to get into it or at least keep the cars on tracks.
@Villoresi3 жыл бұрын
It's a simple case of the '67 cars being considered more iconic, and therefore a better vehicle, marketing-wise, to sell the game to begin with. Also given what else was available back then, I think even the '65 cars would have been a handful given what people were sued to in sims at the time.
@happyloaf3 жыл бұрын
@@Villoresi I get they are more iconic but they are so hard to drive that many people back in the day with a joystick never stood a chance. Hell even with a modern Logitech wheel and hundreds of hours in sims, I am barely able to keep them on track let alone race past the mid field with the ai. The learning cliff is so steep that most people who picked the game up out of curiosity will stick with it
@Villoresi3 жыл бұрын
@@happyloaf Hence, my second sentence, which was to say, I'm not sure that even the '65 cars, back then, would have been "easy enough" to not still have the same problem to almost the same extent. Let's face it, that was kind of the age of, "If it's harder to drive, that means it must be 'more realistic' to how it actually was." One wonders, if they'd started with the '65 cars, would they have simply made them as hard to drive as the '67 cars are now?

@@Villoresi I don't know? For me it is the 65 mod seems to be the sweet spot of drivable and race able without worrying about spinning every turn.
