The problem of the treasure hunt is where you will start. He gives a hint in the first part of the poem. The treasure trail begins in a place that was very important to him in that region, a place he knew and visited and generally felt himself well alone there. Actually the poem is a map.

This video said that the treasure is hidden "someone in New Mexico." That is not what Mr. Fenn said. He said "In the mountains north of Santa Fe." It is very likely that it is hidden in New Mexico, but Fenn didn't say that.

It's actually really easy to figure out if you can figure out poems. I would have been able to give you some kind of clue but i don't know what the other clues are. To me it seems as though its in a canyon cave or something close to there for what i have listen to so far.

The second part of the poem is where the treasure is: "Begin it where warm waters halt (a river, a lake?)...And take it in the canyon down (a canyon?),...Not, far, but too far to walk (you will need a car, maybe he used a car to hide this, he was old)...Put in below the home of Brown (this can be a house, a cave e etc..)

Just think for a second: 2 million dollars of gold is about 1630 ounces each one is 28.34 grams which means the total gold is weight approx. 46.22 KG !!! the chest alone has to carry that weight which means it needs to be strong and heavy as well so u r looking at 100 pounds of treasure buried somewhere, it's a large treasure box, not like in the poem: "just take the chase and go away", it won't be easy to carry!!!

"Not far, but too far to walk............" I think that means someplace where walking isn't physically possible for anyone. You can walk across across shallow streams. You can walk up sheer mountain cliffs (though that might be difficult for some and impossible for most). I think it has something to do with the line "heavy loads and water high"...........as in the water is deep because where the treasure is sitting is more than 15 feet below water.

First: You will need a map of the region. Second: you need to learn about Fenn's routine, particularly a place where he most liked to stay (a place that fits in the description of the first part of the poem).Third: you will need a car. For all you calling BS--New Mexico is beautiful to see. I live in california but sometimes wake up and drive to alburquerque just for the hell of it. Sure its 800 miles but well worth the trip...If you dont find Finn's treasure-So what. You'll definitely find something beautiful in New Mexico. Here in Puebla, State, in the goberment archives of small town, have been found in 1985 a testament dated 1781, for a thief of the time (Juán C.) . Where he describe to his wife 20 places where he buried hundreds of Kg. in gold. Silver and gold coins, jewerly robbed to the Spanish goberment during approximately 50 years . 5 places have been found and the other 15th, supposedly still there. The names of places & towns he describe, exist, some with another names. H.H.

Someone found it last week in a crevice in rocks along a shoreline, apparently it was behind a wooden house that bordered the lake, but the crevice was about 10 feet up on the rock cliff that bordered the lake ... don't know how how he got it in there ???

Anything that is found in that area belongs to the people, so it would wind up in a museum. This is what Fenn is banking on, and has said he wants it to wind up in a museum. If you do find it might as well hand it over to authorities, or melt it down so there is no trace.

jerzionit I'm not privy to the law in N.M. however, if the finder has to turn it over to a bunch of bureaucrats what would the incentive?. The millionaire had to know this, so why would he do it, knowing that the finder would be reluctant to turn the treasure in ?
