For information : it was Col. Remy van Lierde and they were in a helicopter. The snake did not attack, but rose 3m (10ft.) in a striking position. The pilot says that had they been closer the snake would have struck. The snake was about 20m (50ft.) long.

visible from the air' the length of the snake is 50 feet, but the snake's body is not straight, if the snake's body is straight. It is certain that the length of the snake is more than 50 feet. you can imagine the width of the snake's head is 2 feet and the length of its head is 3 feet, the snake raises its head 10 feet high. if you see the shadow of a snake's head, you know for sure that it is a very large snake.

I did Missionary work in Papua New Genie and the Helicopter pilot who was a Missionary pilot told us a true story how he was heading back to the airstrip from the jungle and suddenly his Helicopter starting sputtering and he began to search for a spot to land, which is hard to find in the jungle by the way, as he was looking for a clear spot he notice what he thought were airplane tires and there was a clear spot in that area and when he landed he called in for assistance and they said it would be about a hour/half before they could get to him. So he decided to go to area where he seen what he thought were tires from a airplane, which he also thought was a war plane that crashed in the jungle. As he hacked his way thru, he saw the tire and hacked his way towards, as he looked to see how close he was to it, it moved. Then he realized he needed to get away quickly and he did make it back to his Helicopter. So, a snake the size of a airplane tire would have been a huge snake.

Might also be interested to know that he also said he saw a dinosaur type animal and a dog with two noses. On his return, all his peers called him a liar. The two nosed dog has since been found. The snake he shot he estimated was 90ft + as some of it was in the water. Of the three, the two nosed dog was arguably the most ridiculous, but it’s now a documented beast.

During Jungle Warfare School in Panama (back in the day), they had a zoo of animals we could encounter in the jungle. It included an anaconda that was about 30 ft long (if memory serves). It came from Colombia originally but the story was the cadre were training in Colombia and were patrolling through the jungle and decided to take a break and rested his foot on a log... then the log moved. There was a picture showing a bunch of army guys holding a giant snake and the loops between them would droop to the ground and then held by another guy and then droop to the ground again. They told us they fed it 10 chickens at a time during feeding. Was a crazy big snake.

Little shorter than 30 feet probably. No snake in recorded history since Theodore Roosevelt was president has been 30 feet long alive. He was the first Belgian pilot to break the sound barrier .In 1959 while flying a helicopter on a mission in the Congo was when he spotted what looked like a large snake and a crew member took a photograph of it. The photograph was examined by professionals who determined it was 100 percent authentic picture of something unknown. It wasn’t WW2, it was actually 1959 and the man flying the helicopter was Col. Remy Van Lierde and by that time he had already been flying for 25yrs. There are videos of him explaining the story over the years and the story has never changed. Normally if it’s an exaggerated story details change overtime and things get “bigger” but his story has stayed the same and he never went seeking fame or fortune. I think he may have been a lucky one to see one of the last truly gigantic snakes that used to roam the Congo. I know snakes still roam the Congo but nothing this giant has been photographed since. The fact that he’s above the snake in a helicopter and it still looks that massive says to me that it must’ve been a monster sized snake.

Snakes like Anacondas and Pythons never actually stop growing. They will continue to grow larger and larger with enough food source. In some very remote dense uncharted areas of the Congo Jungle, there are have sighting by locals of massive 40-60 foot giant Anacondas. They just keep growing.

My theory, the snake was indeed real and was at a whopping size, it died not long after due to it's massive size which might have caused it to overweight, suffocate and die to a lack of prey, that might explain the fact it was never seen again. If you say that the snake is hiding in a undiscovered area, how could a giant snake stay hiding from Humans, just my theory, the real reason might be something different.

Once upon a time, a woman was picking up firewood. She came upon a poisonous snake frozen in the snow. She took the snake home and nursed it back to health. One day the snake bit her on the cheek.
