I show a product photo shoot from planning, through setup, and publishing on the Web. Best comment I’ve gotten so far: “Great tutorial as always! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!”

Even knowing nothing about photography and not much more about Photoshop, it was mesmerizing watching you produce that beautiful image. Thanks
@MrDanny0819 жыл бұрын
this tutorial is awesome. you explain very good and even take the time to add details like: "you need to have snap on for this function to work" so if I try the exact same it wil actualy work because you say it step by step without skipping small things. this is one of the best tutorials I ever watched.

Hey sir,I just bumped onto this video as Im venturing into product and food photography. Ive been shooting portraits and such for a few years now but where im located its difficult to get subjects let alone clients. I still love to shoot Fashion and artistic portraits but this genre allows me to get in close and learn more about lighting at a slower pace. This is one of the best tutorials in general as rarely does a photographer show from concept to finished product. That's the way my mind works and is part of the fun for me - the planning is part of the shot also in my mind. So great to find like minded folks out there. Im actually checking out your site now and I look forward to seeing more. Sorry I got to this video so late.CheersFrank

Forrest, Great job. A couple of questions. Why don't you use a flash meter to get a more accurate exposure so you don't have to do so much post processing? Instead of the laso tool and fill you can use the spot healing brush and click on the first position then move in a straight line and shift-click at the farthest point and it will remove the entire line between the clicks. Do you do concept sketches for every subject?

The most expensive part was the lens (70-200 f/2.8 USM IS) and camera (5D Mark II). But you can accomplish the same thing with a 450D and 18-55, though you may need a bigger area since you have a wider field of view (I was at 200mm). You will need only one strobe since you could replace the soft box with a window without direct sunlight, and you’d just need to light the background, then reflect window light into the logo.

These days, pretty much any DSLR will let you do a good job. You may find though at a 50mm lens on a crop sensor gives you a narrower field of view than you’d like. Depends on what you’re doing. Higher-end bodies give you things like more megapixels maybe, full-frame sensor perhaps, better focusing for sure, bigger and faster buffers, maybe better high-ISO noise characteristics, etc.

Hello Forrest, Great video tutorial you have done there, you have a great way of teaching things. I am doing some product photography and shooting some make up where the colours have to be spot on. I am having trouble getting the correct colours even after setting customer white balance! would you have any idea what i might be doing wrong? I am shooting on a Cannon 7d with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens, I also have a 70-200mm 2.8 lens. At the moment I am shooting with continuous light. Thanks

For perfectly square images, in which when you scroll over the product with a zoom tool, what is a standard resolution for highest quality, best zoom, but still quick so that people aren't waiting for the zoom feature to load? For example, how would you save a product photo such as the products shown on the Horchow website that zoom in? Does my question make sense? It's kind of hard to explain. Or is every image going to be different?
