Wow, this was so interesting! It's so cool how aware of everything the photographer is. I can imagine it takes lot of practice to get such an eye for detail!

I always thought that product photography is easy and you do almost everything thru the way you shoot (perfect lighting, angles where the camera should be, shadows fixed) but as it turns out a LOT of post editing happens. Thanks for the tutorial, I learned a lot.

Came across this looking to brush up on my product photography as I got a new job as a product photographer and I am super nervous. I have been working as a school photographer for 5 years and haven't done anything along these lines since college. I may have to save this to a play list and study a few videos to get back into the swing of it.

When building sets like that what material do you use to get the best result with painting? I think I heard you used MDF? All the MDF I see when I go to Home Depot is 1" which is so heavy to manuever versus what looks like .5" used here. Thanks anyone's comments on this would be awesome!

I enjoyed this because I am always eager to learn. If I was doing the photographs for a company that makes the purse, I could see where these techniques would be useful. I am shooting for Ebay sales however and need to be able to get the shots as clean as I can (i.e. squared up in the lens, lit properly). I do about 60-70% vertical straight down and about 30 to 40% stand mounted angled down slightly. I do not want to spend more than 5 minutes to grab my photos for a single item. I would like to learn getting super detailed macro shots and be able to pull out to get full shots of the products. Nice work though.

Pardon my English, I’m not a native speaker. I run a retail online shop, with varieties of products, and I shoot and edit every picture of each product. If I’m gonna follow the steps on this video, I think I’ll spend most of my time just to shoot and edit. Are these steps inevitable in product photography for every individual photo (and, yes, I have to spend most of my time doing it)? Or, is there any other way to process it especially when working on so many, many products? Like perhaps a format for the photo session and editing process for consistency?

Using the new Content Scale in Photoshop 2019, I'd simply crop the image and then use the Conteny scale as a copy of the background and and paste it behind the source image (so you don't stretch the content inside.

or use already made human hand model, and photoscan that bag or other product. Recreation of bag could take around 2h (with colors and texture ) + 2h to create good maps for it. Then 3h for render in V-ray ?

When you use gradients or blurs over a solid color or big brush size and....., it automatically causes banding artifacts in the final result. My question is: expect adding noise, is there any better solution to get rid of this common issue? If no, "noise" in "product photography" is OK?!
