I served st Ft Leavenworth as a guard in the USDB 1974-1976. You missed a great experience to walk through the old prison. They coverted the inmate visitors room into a cafe. Missing is the Castle, who's dome you could see as you crossed the bridge from Missouri.

I was at ft riley, just up the road, so to speak. This was back in the 60's

Hello, nice video, thanks for sharing it. That's so neat that you, and I'm guessing your spouse, are traveling across the US together seeing the sights.. I was stationed here at Ft Leavenworth while serving in the USAF from 1990 to 91 and worked as a prison guard in the old USDB. I worked in most of those towers as well as the old USDB which was torn down in the early 2000s after the new USDB was built down the road. I was a little surprised you didn't go into the old prison...but you were probably short on time.
