Thanks for a great lecture. Question: one thing that I don't understand is, as one switches magnetic flux from downwards to upwards that would change the direction in which electrons are rotating. So, if one had sinusoidal magnetic flux he would just get electron going clockwise and then counter-clockwise. So electron will never accelerate?

sir u have explained in the best way possible, nut i have a doubt that if there is a changing magnetic field than it should also affect the direction of rotation of electron means on changing m.f. direction should also change

Hello, nice video! I have recently watched the video, where you derive the formula E=mc². I guess you don't want to do more videos on the, but I would appreciate you doing a video on the derivation and meaning of the equation E²=(pc)²+(mc²)². I do not understand how it fits into the overall picture of the special theory of relativity. I see how this equation can describe both the rest energy of any object with mass, as well as the energy of a photon at once, but i cannot connect it to the rest of the formulas of the special theory of relativity. I also don't really understand how photons are affected by those equations, as they don't have mass and therefore cannot be described by the formula E0=m0c² as well as the formula E=mc²=γm0c². (I wrote E0 for resting energy and m0 for resting mass). Thank you!
@FortheLoveofPhysics
@FortheLoveofPhysics 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, the relativistic energy of anything (whether a photon or any other particle) E²=(pc)²+(mc²)² contains energy terms due to two "contributions" (simply put) : 1) rest mass energy (mc²), and 2) energy due to motion (pc). The expression is not a simple addition of KE with rest mass energy, but rather the above complicated expression is because as a particle starts moving, its mass starts increasing also. U can search for a simple derivation usng STR, you will find it in a book. Also, Since light has zero rest mass, (m=0 in the expression) therefore a light photon has energy E=pc, or p=E/c where E=hv

Dear professor I have a question. I´m a service engineer in a place where we have 3 betatrons for x-ray for industrial purposes. One of them doesn´t begin scanning when it has to (it takes about 2 seconds more). The 3 systems are programmed the exact same way but like I said, one of them is taking a little bit more to initiate the scanning process. In the X-Ray module I have the supply unit that energizes the betatron and the pulse converter, I have of course a pulse converter and I have the betatron. My theory is that it´s taking too long for the magnets inside the betatron to activate or to excite the particles within the radiation chamber in order to obtain the x rays. Could you verify this for me? is my theory correct?
