I can't too much money on a bike, my neightborhood it's kinda dangerous. Never try a 125cc or a 150cc, but this machine is so damn powerful, I'm having practice 1 hour a day, It's so exciting, It' s totally different than my scooter. 14 days practicing, I'm still amazed, btw.. careful with the rear brakes, Got my ass slipped away a little bit xD, even with low speed, when you full brake on rear brake, shit happens xD

As a former motorcycle messenger, I can attest a bungee net is THE most practical all-purpose luggage tool any motorcyclist can have (always have one in my tank bag). A 12-pack, at soccer ball, logs for the fire, a spare helmet,, and maybe small children will all safely be strapped to the rear seat and/or rack. Also, for an overstuffed tank bag it can be wrapped around the bag to help stabilize it.

Well these are 'hacks' after all, not permanent solutions. They're good in a pinch but you should always get proper motorcycle gear if you can because it's more comfortable, practical, durable and most of all, you don't have to waste time improvising and buying a bunch of ziploc bags, hair ties, newpapers and magnets. And you also don't have to worry if it's all going to stick or fall off the bike at the first set of bumps. lol

Awesome tip on using other outdoor riding equipment instead of expensive 'motorcycle' gear. I also wanted to share a tip with everyone. Chances are people already use this but I'm betting not everyone does. I live in Phoenix AZ. This summer was one of the hottest in a while. Average summer temps in July were like 113. To combat this I used to wear gel evaporative gear, like a vest and scarf. But these made me feel humid and were only good to about 97 degrees after which they were less and less effective. Still, I wanted to stay somewhat cool and protected. Riding in heavy city traffice without an armored jacket or gloves and boots was a no no for me. My solution? One day I was shopping for 'cold packs' for our cooler. I noticed the cold packs, the ones that look like little ice cubes wrapped in foil, were just the right size to fit into my jacket's inside mesh pouches. I thought why not try it out? I did, and now use them anytime it gets above 95 degrees. My jacket has pouches on either side of my chest, just over my ribs/lungs. Frozen, they easily last more than an hour, or longer if it's not extremely hot. Not touching my skin directly means no uncomfortable freezer burns but still close enough and buried inside my zipped up jacket to create a barrier of cool inside that has really really helped me stay cool and avoid heat stroke. I literally do not need to use the gel gear now till it's a bit cooler. I arrive at work or shopping or whatever cool enough that I have barely broken a sweat, even in 115 degrees. Next summer I'm going to try putting one in my back armor pouch for added cooling. Best life/motorcycle hack for the heat, try it please.

I've done the newspapers stuffed down the jacket routine myself. I bought a bike in Yorkshire and then faced a 100 mile ride back home to Birmingham, and although I took my biking gear with me when I travelled up on the train to buy the XJ900, I underestimated how cold it would get as the day wore on. I pulled into a motorway services prepared to buy a jumper or sweatshirt but there was nothing, so I grabbed a free newspaper and used that. Worked a charm.

All you naysayers are a bunch of Philistines ! motorcyclists have been using newspaper as a cheap and readily available cold barrier since Mr.Daimler first met Mr.Guttenberg. You young, uns need to be taught everything. It's a time-honoured tradition, and it totally works. Mind you, most of us were never quite as sophisticated as Ryan: all we did was unfold several sheets onto our chest and zipped the jacket over it. Guaranteed to stay in place while riding and equally guaranteed to fall out when stepping off the bike... Of course, you could just stash your jacket's removable cold liner somewhere on the bike...

My Sedici Systema helmet is the same shell as an LS2 Strobe. Sedici didn't have an effective anti-fog solution. However, LS2 made a breath shield for snowmobiles. It restricts opening the chinbar, but it's near freezing, so no loss there. Works likes a champ, zero fogging. Also the LS2 shield locks have a locking tab so they won't fall off, unlike the twice as expensive Sedici parts. Google part numbers, it works wonders.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to stiff someone's newspapers because I was out later than expected in the spring or fall when the weather is warm with the sun out but temperatures plummet at night. I've never done the crumpling thing but just sticking papers along the inner front of my jacket really helps stop the wind from freezing my core. That's an awesome hack! Bungee nets are a must too. Funny to see the old newspaper in the jacket trick. Back when riding with a windshield was definitely NOT cool, this saved our frozen bodies, especially if you could get the weekend edition which left some to stuff over your thighs. The rubber glove liner trick also works for your feet. A couple of plastic shopping bags stuffed into the boots will make those old leakers snug and warm, or at least dry. And, if you find yourself running late to get home, say in early Spring and the temp has dropped a bunch since that sunny afternoon, using a hoody under your jacket will keep the freeze off your neck where your helmet ends. Liking the videos! Greasy side down bros. T

key to the bungie nets is where you get them, 8 bucks at places like walmart, even cheaper at dollar stores if you can find them and next to nothing in many online places, while quality slightly varies its not a high risk purchase unless you are on wish but you can order several and luck usually does pay off on simple things like this. you dont need a brand name on it or from specialty stores, just like golf supplies are typically as good or even same brand will be cheaper at walmart than the specialty store. Zipties, electrical tape and a lighter are also of huge emergency importance. Ive used zip ties for everything from emergency fender holders to electrical emergencies where I need to retuck wiring in a pinch or even the rare lost bolt for a license plate can be replaced with zipties for the short and sometimes long run..

I buy a lot of accessories and gear from my local Outdoor Adventure shop. I bought a military backpack 45LT with a 2L bladder included and built for all weather & conditions. The only con to it, although I love it, is the camo colorway may stand out too much for people. This cost me $54.99, AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS! Now, wherever you're from, go ahead and do the conversion rates yourself and see how cheap that is hahaha. There's always great deals out there, you just gotta be willing to look anywhere.

Ryan, yup yup. Did the same thing for wet-gear years ago. WetSkins Snowmobile gear makes excellent MC wet gear. And looks more MC kosher, if you mix the jacket with leather chaps as I do.( the pants are a head-ache to put on.... bad zipper design.....but they are 100% water tight and don't breathe). So...... that said, WetSkins can be purchased at CDN-Tire, The pants and jacket, come as a kit for around $90. bucks. ...Ciao.

I find that work clothes are generally just as protective as a lot of motorcycle gear for a bunch cheaper. Thick, heavy jeans, 6” leather boots with a real sole and steel toe/shank, a heavyweight longsleeve t-shirt with a heavy flannel (maybe a cotton duck or denim jacket, too, if it’s not hot out) over it, and good work gloves (I wear Kunz buckskin driver gloves, they’re damn tough and fit like they should, learned about the company from some linemen I work with) are as good as most casual motorcycle gear, while lasting way longer, being twice as comfortable, and costing half as much. I have real armored jeans and shirts for when I ride on the highway or plan on trail riding aggressively, but for backroads and light trails I just wear work clothes. I’ve gone down in work clothes, once on pavement, and was quite satisfied with the protection afforded by them.

I work in a warehouse, if you have tons of silica gel packets at your disposal, (the ones that say, "DO NOT EAT") those are awesome for speeding up the drying process of literally anything

the trick of looking for gear intended for other sports works well with luggage too. i use a sailing vinyl dry duffle from 'overboard' and its half the price of an "adventure" bike dry bag.

This is getting a bit old, but my hack for when I used to commute in the cold. Take the heavy-weight ziplock bag Ryan used in LH1, put a few paper towels, or a washcloth in it damp, then nuke it. Get it really hot, but not melting the bag. Put it between the layers in our chest jacket. My 45 - 90 minute GD cold commute became tolerable. My stator didn't put out enough for electric gear, so this would get me home when it got dark and cold.

An old trick to keep you warm in winter. Get a clean unfilled cement bag usually made of seven layers of brown paper. Cut out a hole for your head and two for your arms. Slip it on and put your winter jacket over the top. Toasty warm.

Also, consumer advice concerning luggage nets: make sure the hooks have a little bit of space in the loop where they connect to the net. You will want to be able to detach the hook and attach it from another part of the net, to get that net tight and secure. Some poor luggage nets will have the loops even welded so that you can't even stretch them open with pliers. Don't buy those! Also, take a look at the quality of the net. Soft is NOT always better as they may snap more easily.

Baby wipes are awesome for literally everything, and they take engine oil and grease off your hands super easily. For hacking the bike, try installing a hidden inline switch for your ignition, or a high current switch for the battery.

Newspaper is excellent at helping dry out the inside of soaked boots. Crumble up and cram inside the boots, let sit for 30 min. then swap out with fresh paper. Your boots will dry out much faster.

When attaching something long, I find straps work better than bungee nets. Nets are always a little bit finicky - but they do the trick when a strap doesn't fit the thing you're carrying.

Locally in Halfords, they have a phone mount for motorcycles. It costs £55. Literally on the shelf across from that is the same exact phone mount for a bicycle, £25. The exact same product in a different package.

Cut one of the wires on the wire harness for the kick stand kill switch and run wires to a location of your choosing for hiding a switch to make the bike stall when you put it in gear.
