By the time we get to OG Season 4, double pump will likely be ineffective with how good people are now, turbo build being a thing by that point, and pumps being awful at the end of Season 4

i mean, double pump is probably not OP anymore. there is a delay between switching pump shotguns already of 380 MS, its probably better to just pump once then edit reset. although it benefit the double pumper's 50/50, i think double pump will be healthy. edit for those that dont know, every weapon has a pull out animation.. that's the delay im saying.

personally i think it's a great idea, as hopefully it should just bring more players to playing fortnite overall, and the more people playing the better / healthier the game will be. It might also benefit chapter 6 br and future chapters, because they won't need to do an 'OG' season at the end of the chapter, which means (hopefully) continuous new content in the newest chapters/seasons. So yeah, i'm all for it, and having really really enjoyed Reload lately, i think having the option for different game modes is brilliant.

I would just suggest Epic considers taking a page out of Runescape's book for their approach to this mode (if the playerbase for the mode eventually starts declining, at least). People loved the idea of bringing back Oldschool Runescape. However, at first, the playerbase for Oldschool Runescape began declining because of a lack of updates. Now, the game is doing incredibly well because it has maintained a lot of the feeling and style of an older version of runescape but the game still constantly gets new content. Nostalgia brings players back, but it's generally not enough on it's own to keep them around, updates keep people around (also, I recognize that it would not all be nostalgia, it's perfectly valid to prefer the gameplay in chapter 1). That being said, however, the game will probably be in a really good spot next chapter with a modern fortnite chapter (chapter 6), an OG mode, and sort of a middle ground yet fast paced option with Reload, there will probably always be something that most battle royale and zero build players will enjoy. As for myself, I would enjoy getting to experience some of what I missed (I joined in chapter 4), but I couldn't see myself playing very much of it if there was no sprinting, mantling, and more bloom lol

@@GlennyDemons True but if you look at the playerbase count for OSRS, it was starting to drop off to a very significant degree until God Wars Dungeon and other updates started coming out, which lead to growth again, and I believe with all of the updates it has gotten it is now doing better than it did even around launch.

I'm relatively new to playing Fortnite. I think I'll enjoy the OG just to learn the history but I'm mainly looking forward to a New season- like always. They do a great job at keeping it fresh

I agree with your take on this. It'll be good to revisit ch.1, minus the problems it had. I do like the simplicity of these older seasons/chapters/remixes. The newer chapters just keep adding and changing things, making it harder to keep up and constantly adapt to the game. Chapter 5 is a great example of this.

​@@Therapist_Demoman Yes it was - or at least the way weapon swapping works was a deliberate choice by epic. The base game mechanics were highly polished at release (due to ~six years of development) and many haven't changed much over the years. Weapon swapping cancelling the refire animation is 100% intended as it is how the game has been designed. It is pretty much how most modern FPS work now - albeit most modern FPS don't allow you to carry multiple shotguns. They probably wanted weapon swapping to feel responsive and settled on this. This isn't to say it was balanced (but was fun af, particularly before it was mainstreamed by that one streamer) and epic were "wrong" for changing it.

Yeah I'm pretty much with you that I enjoyed the game well enough back then, but I doubt it'll be as fun now. But I mean if folks enjoy it sure. And well yeah I'm hopeful for Ch6... as the last few seasons I've not even played the game that much since I've not enjoyed it particularly much unless I get folks to play with, so I hope it's again at a place where I can play the game on my own regularly and have fun.

Fortnite wasn't epics first rodeo and their existing games had similar implementation that allowed players to circumvent a weapons refire time to increase DPS by quickly switching weapons - which was never patched out and instead the next version of the game (ut2003 -> ut2004) changed weapon switch times and how refire is handled. My post wasn't an argument for or against double pump, more that claims of it being a "bug" are non-sensical. I think epics "fix" is clunky and they should have explored other options which could have also been applied to other slow ROF weapons, but we are here almost six years later so I guess they were happy with it. >busted Yes, from a balance perspective it was, but from a design perspective it was working as intended and many (modern) FPS work in this manner. Its just many games don't allow you to carry two shotguns so it never becomes an issue.

I think OG will be a good thing. Either it turns out to be a lot of fun, or it gets people to take off their nostalgia goggles. While the OG season (ch4 se5) was a blast, it was a blast because it was one month long. I don't think it would have remained fun for an entire year. But ultimately I do think a permeant OG mode because as Fortnite continues to progress, it will eventually become something unrecognizable, it's good to have the original still around to remind the world of what Fortnite was.

the Pump headshot multiplier remained 2.5x until Season 4 when it was reduced to 2.0x, and was Common to Uncommon in patches v1.6 through v3.00, and in v3.00 it was Uncommon through Rare, Patch v6.31 introduced the Spas, and when the pump was unvaulted in Mid Season 9 it was Uncommon through Rare until Chapter 2
