Yet, Another I really want to work on and play Live!! Love CCR and John Fogerty!! His Show, " The Long Road Home " DVD is Must have for any True Fan. The Band he put Together is Stellar!!!!

I think John used that black LES PAUL for all the tuned down stuff…in That era for sure, I believe the RICK was in standard for the other songs ..Green River, Bayou etc…I played this many times in bands and I got a Whammy pedal with a tune down/up capability so I didn’t have to tune down! Used it in other tunes too.Great job thanks!

Really good lesson. Great to mention the tone settings. Also, a lot of people have missed John's tunings which makes a huge difference for people trying to replicate the sound. Bad Moon Rising is nothing like the popular tabs people can find. Thanks for this!

Great lesson. I realize that the majority of CCR fans want your tutorial to be songs such as this song; and it's a good song, don't get me wrong. However, I believe Fogertys best guitar work is the d3but album and Bayou Country. They are just raw and less commercial, with much more intense playing. For example, I Put A Spell On You, Susie Q, Born on The Bayou are my favorite CCR tunes. Hopefully, someday you can give those a try??

Great lesson!! I like you taking time to explain the down tuning, really helps to get a handle on the disconnect - I'm playing A but sounds like G. Also, I set up up my D tuning and use heavier strings, also top wrap LPs creating more tension, helps tuning stability. Great tune, John doing lead while singing is bonkers. Ü ♫

Tom used a Guild Starfire IV through a Kustom amp. Those Kustoms grit up at about 2/3 full volume. For this track, John used a Les Paul Custom tuned down a whole tone and through his Kustom K-200-A4. You can see his fret positions on the _Ed Sullivan Show_ footage. Two things: for the lead guitar chords, G-F-C-G, the 'F' chord is played as a barre at third fret--but thumb over neck for 'F' bass and fingers fretting C-F-A-C-F; and the 'interlude' riff is played hybrid with pick and fingers.

These were some of the most important songs in my young life . I play this one but felt it was thin without that tuning trick . It's a bit much to ask but that lead on heard it through the grapevine ? I have a lot of it down and can wing it but could really benefit from your input .

John Forgerty mostly used D standard tuning in most CCR songs? I always thought he used E standard Tuning. I wonder if Clapton used Eb standing tuning or D standing tuning to get that woman tone in cream?
@12footchain Жыл бұрын
Don't think most, but many for sure. Proud Mary, bad moon, lodi, grapevine, others

@12footchain9 ай бұрын
No I don't think the rhythm guitar is tuned down. Tom Fogerty played in Standard I'm pretty sure, and John did the down tuned thing on a bunch of songs and the combined sound of the two of them is a big part of the CCR sound for me

So John, with his standard drop tuning, invented the "negative capo" 😋. So here he's got a negative capo on the 2nd fret. Or a normal capo on the -2 fret. 😂. I hate capos! 😅😅
