Just to answer the FAQ - the road is the N2, just north of Faro
@x_Paulo_Nogueira_x5 жыл бұрын
Itsnt just "a road"... N2 stands for "National road 2" and its (obvious) one of the oldest roads in portugal that connects old citys and villages for 738,5 Km Consider one of the best "road trips" of Europe ;) Hope you enjoyed Portugal, ride safe :)

Just to note - This video and the Lamb Chops video = me buying a Thruxton RS recently. I was about to go for a Speed Triple RS 1200 - However, seeing the fun you guys had on this - I thought. Why not. The slowest bike I've owned. But, with the optional fairing - by miles the coolest bike. And one, despite the lack of tech (Quick Shifters etc) , a bike I am loving owning! Get Triumph to give you £20 ;-)

Fully agree. I rode the Rocket 3R Saturday. Was surprised to see how good it was. I expected far less. Can't wait to ride the Tiger 900. It may follow me home. I only wish they would build a fully updated Speed Triple. Unfortunately I don't see that happening.
@SerenityChaos19755 жыл бұрын
Bill Kerr wasn’t the Speed Triple updated in 2017/2018? They came out with the full colour TFT display, ride by wire etc, in an R and RS version.
@Miata8225 жыл бұрын
@@SerenityChaos1975 Yes, updated electronics and small tweaks in the engine. Not worth trading my '14 1050R for. They shroud be able to squeeze quite a bit more power from that engine configuration and lose some weight. The original streetfighter now lags behind the competition. Given the small attention the Speed 3 has gotten in recent years and the cost of R&D vs. the profitability of the retro twins I wouldn't be surprised to see Triumph let the Speed3 fade away. That would be a pity. FWIW I bet all Triumph engineering and cash is going toward a Speed E or similarly named electric bike. That's not a bad thing. Love my SR/F. Outpulls my Speedy by a fair margin.

I’ve been quite sceptical of a lot of the bike reviews I’ve seen recently in terms of honesty. The closing points of this video were very reassuring in that sense.
@FortyFourTeeth5 жыл бұрын
Everything we do is honest. Total transparency. The issue is, manufacturers don't make shit bikes anymore, so it's up to us to dissect them, ignore the subjective shit and convey the dynamics
@antonnjames46265 жыл бұрын
44Teeth it’s certainly refreshing, for sure. Ultimately a review needs to cut through the marketing hype and the manufacturer press packet to strike at the important points - what a bike does well and where it has shortcomings. I certainly appreciate the point about manufacturers not, on the whole, making bad bikes anymore. The quality of what we see at all levels of the market is astonishing and keeps getting better. That said, I do still very much appreciate it when reviewers (44T, FortNine, etc) can be honest about the faults of the machines they ride, however good they may be otherwise.

Greetings, Allistair! So nice to see you on a proper motorbike again! I agree with "The Chop" that I really enjoy the ride-along videos that you do like this one where we get your seat-of-the-pants feelings and such. As for the bike, well... I love this thing. I always have and it only seems like the bike is getting better and better, in spite of that crappy Euro 5 dredge that the industry now has to suffer through. I know the word "character" almost seems like a generic term these days, but honestly, this bike has tons of it. Some day I hope to put one of these in the stable, though I wonder if I'm too big for the bike. Not fat, in case you're wondering! - just big. I need to go ride one again and see how it goes. I think you have inspired me, man! Anyway, thanks for another great review. Cheers!

I am writing this as the Video starts. The old Thruxton R was promoted by many moto publications as a modern bike with classic lines. But when one actually did push it as you can do on many modern bikes it was clear that it still was not a modern bike handling wise as it felt heavy and slow in the corners on a technical road section. I think I got my answers, -Why bother to go to the gym when you got this road :P

Loved the look of the 1st gen, but like you thought it too heavy, lethargic and thought it felt more like a cruiser with the low revving sluggish engine than a racer which it certainly wasn't as it was slow to turn in. This next gen seems quite an improvement but I still think it needs a few more horses say 125bhp. Wish Triumph had kept the looks the same as the 1st gen that really was a peach. It's now starting to look a bit like the Speed Twin and other cafe racers. Not sure this gen is a big enough improvement for me. I would have a Speed Triple RS instead. Good review btw.

But I think it definitely feels heavy in the corners (I've got the lower clip-ons). And if I had money I'd buy a more usable bike as well. Here in lies my problem. I love it but I don't at the same time. The new bike sounds interesting but I think I'd have the same issue.
